Aya Healthcare is Hiring a Remote Inpatient Coder

Aya Healthcare has an exciting REMOTE contract opportunity in Wisconsin!!

JOB TITLE: Inpatient Coder
CONTRACT DURATION: 13 weeks
SHIFT: Ability to be flexible in response to work volume changes, staffing changes, or special events. Weekends and holiday work required.
LOCATION: 100% Remote – must sit/reside in Wisconsin
ONBOARDING TIME: Expect 3-5 weeks from offer acceptance to start date.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS (due at time of phone screen with recruiter)

· Documentation of Covid vaccination or medical/religious exemption.

· Three references - two mangers/supervisors and one co-worker you have worked with in the last TWO years (2022 to present only).

· Resume with last seven years of work history - all work history gaps of 90 days must be explained.

REQUIRED CRITERIA

· High School diploma or equivalent GED.

· Associates Degree in HIT preferred

· 1-3 years inpatient coding experience required

· RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certified.

· EPIC EHR

· Proficient computer and keyboarding skills and experience using Microsoft Office products.

· Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.

· Knowledge of International Classification of Disease (ICD) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT).

· Knowledge of MS-DRG classification system.

DETAILS ABOUT THE POSITION

1. Maintains the confidentiality of patient, employee, and physician information, whether it is in verbal, written, or electronic form by strictly adhering to UHS policies and procedures and state/federal statutes.

2. Promptly answers the telephone by the third ring with a polite response that meets the caller's needs by providing the requested information or routing the call appropriately.

3. Monitors workload and re-prioritizes work as necessary.

4. Assists in training of new employees, co-workers and students.

5. Performs duties in an independent manner with little or no supervision, needs no reminder after directions are explained, is proactive by determining what needs to be done next without being asked and sees the task through to completion.

6. Demonstrates good decision-making skills based on factual, objective data and exercises independent judgment in situations when a supervisor is not immediately available.

7. Demonstrates a willingness to offer process improvement suggestions and embraces change.

8. Shows evidence of being a team player, exhibiting prompt and professional communication that is clear, concise, and accurate, supporting co-workers, and maintaining a positive attitude.

9. Performs simple trouble shooting of equipment and/or helps facilitate such.

10. Completes assigned job responsibilities by end of shift. Informs Supervisor if assigned tasks cannot be completed in a timely manner or of any work-related problems.

11. Demonstrates at least 98% coding accuracy rate without significant repetition of similar errors as evidenced by random quality review.

12. Continuously monitors work queue as evidenced by no accumulation in queue of
unreasonably aged work.

13. Requests assistance from the supervisor or clarification from physician(s) when
appropriate.

14. Constructs appropriate coding queries.

15. Works collaboratively with CDI specialists, physicians, and other clinicians to improve clinical documentation.

16. Completes continuing education to maintain professional credential(s).

17. After 6 months of experience, codes 2 Inpatient records per hour.
