Your Impact

The Director of Manufacturing plays a crucial role in overseeing the entire manufacturing process within the Manufacturing Operations organization. This position requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of manufacturing operations. The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective production of assemblies, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
What You’ll Do
Location:Phoenix, AZ
Reports to:SVP, Global Manufacturing Operations
Direct Reports:7 Supervisors / Sr Supervisors

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing department, including resource allocation and production line prioritization to ensure build plan achievement.
  • Execute manufacturing strategies that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement, driving improvements in safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency, productivity, and profitability targets are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, procurement, and logistics, to ensure seamless coordination and communication throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Work with Program Management and Planning to develop production schedules consistent with customer requirements and manufacturing capability Identifies equipment and facility requirements to support the short and long term business plans
  • Actively participate in new product development programs to assure rapid transition into manufacturing
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to optimize production workflows, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing manufacturing team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, industry standards, and quality management systems, such as ISO certifications.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in a senior manufacturing management role, with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in manufacturing operations.
  • Strong track record of successfully managing large-scale manufacturing operations, preferably within a complex and high volume environment. This includes excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes, technologies, and best practices.
  • Experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and manufacturing software systems (e.g., MES & ERP systems).
  • Strong leadership and management abilities, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing manufacturing strategies that drive operational excellence and achieve business objectives.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing principles, processes, and technologies, including lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient in using manufacturing software systems and tools, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and data analytics platforms.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and best practices, such as ISO 9001.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices within the manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced and changing environments, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

The Pay

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 120,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 200,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
