Position Summary:The Pharmacist is responsible for the operation and management of their assigned Pharmacy and in the assistance in expansion and development of the Axis pharmacy program. The Pharmacist assists in planning, organizing and implementation of Axis Health System’s pharmacy policies and procedures in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations, 340 B federal regulations and Axis Health System (AHS) policies, The Colorado State Board of Pharmacy, DEA and any other regulatory and accrediting agencies to maintain compliance and the consideration of mandates of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA).

The Pharmacist is a member of the Axis Health Care Team. Under the supervision of the designated Chief Medical Officer, the Pharmacist develops, implements, and oversees a medication management/therapy approach to care, ensures processes meet or exceed regulatory and industry standards and meets requirements of AHS’ contractual relationships with accountable care organizations and other health insurance entities.

Pharmacist is responsible ensuring best practices are engrained in the culture within Axis Health System (AHS). This position creates, implements, maintains and reviews policies and procedures to ensure pharmacy staff the organization’s competencies, training, pharmacy operations (design, data, records and reporting) meet or exceed all state and federal standards across all AHS.

The position identifies and provides problem-solving input, in collaboration with other AHS leadership, ensuring the AHS pharmacy staff maintains high levels of competency, customer service with a focus on patient experience and health outcomes. The position is cross-functional that interfaces and works collectively with Quality, Human Resources and Integrated Primary Care, Dental and Behavioral Health in the delivery of the areas of responsibility. This position is also responsible for the management, reporting and delivery of assigned outcomes in the areas of responsibility and special projects. The Pharmacist provides leadership, direction, clinical oversight, individual effort and work products that respond to identified organizational needs. This position demonstrates and maintains collegial relationships with all staff including clinic staff and management.

Our ideal candidate for our Pharmacist position will have their doctorate degree in pharmacy or the equivalent, maintain an active Colorado Pharmacy license and have a minimum of 1 year in pharmacy operations.

Salary: Starting pay is $66.00 - $69.96, per hour and considers preferred experience.

Physical demands:Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand, or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between AHS locations. Possible potential exposure to communicable disease. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. AHS may make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, management and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision; plan own work schedule effectively and multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced setting.
  • Must possess exceptional creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
  • Advanced public speaking and technical writing skills is required.
  • Budget development experience is required.
  • Ability to read and understand written materials and compose information/instruction in written form are required.
  • Must have strong decision-making skills and the determination to see projects through to the end.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and management, as well as with outside agencies, vendors and patients in a professional, courteous and confidential manner.
  • Contract management and negotiation experience with strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong working knowledge in general nursing skills, competencies, licensing requirements and state statues regarding nursing and federal requirements and restrictions in this field.
  • Knowledge in medication and vaccination ordering, stocking inventory management, storage, delivery and reporting.
  • Proficient in the use of office equipment, i.e., calculator, copy machine, telephone and fax machine.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Must regard work as confidential.
  • Must have a current driver’s license and the ability to be commercially insured and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with AHS commercial insurance agency.
  • Ability to take on additional duties when necessary.
  • Travel to clinic locations is required.

Additional eligibility requirements:Annual Flu immunization, Annual TB screening, CPI training within 90 days of hire, BLS PRO certification required within 90 days of hire
