We are seeking a talented and dynamic claims professional to join our Management Liability (ML) claims team as a Claims Specialist. This position will handle primary and excess claims involving Public and Private D&O, Financial Institutions and Private Equity.Preferred candidates will be able to commute to an AXIS office, we are a hybrid work environment 3 days week.Key Duties and Responsibilities:* Independently handle a portfolio of middle-market primary and excess claims, including analyzing insurance coverage issues and drafting coverage position letters* Investigate liability and damages issues in connection with claims made against our insureds and maintain appropriate documentation* Ability to evaluate claims and quantum, and make accurate reserve recommendations* Ability to independently attend mediations / settlement conferences and negotiate claim resolutions* Assign and supervise outside counsel in the defense of our insureds in an effort to effectively resolve claims* Maintain and develop relationships with insureds, brokers and outside counsel* Communicates regularly with Senior Claim and Underwriting Managers on large losses, reserving, account trends, coverage matters and industry trends* Professionally represents AXIS as needed in the marketplace and assists underwriting as needed* Responds to broker and insured inquiries with a high level of customer service and urgency* Assess claims to support ML claim metrics/trends in coordination with the ML claims and underwriting teams* Participate in special projects and department initiatives* Provide best-in-class claims serviceRequired Education, Experience and Attributes:* Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school required* 2 years' experience at either a law firm or an insurance company* Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skillsOther desires skills and characteristics:* Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment* Prior exposure to middle-market D&O and E&O matters and Federal Securities Class Actions, Derivative Litigation and SEC-related matters* Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and with external clients and others in a prompt, concise and appropriate manner* Team player willing to proactively assist the wider organization as needed.* Excellent writing skills* Demonstrated negotiation and analytical skills* Adjuster licenses where required* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote) and Share PointFor this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of New York, NY - $110-$160K; Short Hills, NJ - $85 -$150K; Los Angeles, CA $85 -$150K; Chicago, IL - $80 - $135K; Alpharetta, GA -$70 - $125K . The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location.
