SUMMARY:  Our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic Engineer, Flight Hardware Ground Operations who will primarily be responsible for establishing and implementing requirements and processes associated with the ground maintenance, repair, and testing operations for Axiom Space Station hardware. This position reports to Station Logistics Ground Operations Manager, and this role is onsite and will be based at our ASTC facility.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Executes the development of the processes and procedures required to effectively track, maintain, inspect, and test the Axiom Space Station components/orbital replaceable unit (ORU) hardware needed to maintain the Axiom Station.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on the operations, troubleshooting, and test methodologies and maintenance of the Axiom station hardware.
  • Integrate with Axiom Space Station subsystem engineering design teams to ensure full understanding of design and operation of the ORUs associated with the Axiom Station.
  • Provide engineering support for ground hardware maintenance, assembly, test, and repair operations associated with the components/ORUs that will be used for flight.
  • Develop preventive and corrective maintenance & repair plans for Axiom Station ORUs to ensure flight readiness of hardware for launch as needed.
  • Develop maintenance, testing, modification, inspection, and/ or repair requirements and procedures to maintain and prepare the Axiom Station ORUs for launch.
  • Develop post-flight maintenance/refurbishment requirements and procedures for returned station ORUs.
  • Maintain assembly asbuilt records to ensure efficient tracking of the Station ORUs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (aerospace, mechanical or electrical preferred) is required
  • 10 years of direct experience hardware requirements, design/development, troubleshooting, and test operations
  • Knowledgeable in aerospace system hardware and functional operation is highly desired, preferably in the human spaceflight industry
  • Prior experience with Jira or agile project management preferred.
  • Prior experience with PDM software such as SolidWorks Product Data Management (PDM) or similar is preferred.
  • Prior experience with pre-flight/post-flight activities associated with spaceflight hardware is preferred.
  • Experience authoring technical work instructions (processing/test procedures) strongly preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical requirements, and translate the data to assembly, maintenance, inspection, and test operations procedures.
  • Ability to take on multiple critical tasks and manage time effectively to ensure milestones are met.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build productive internal and external working relationships.
  • Prior experience with Jira or agile project management preferred.

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements 

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time).
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
