Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic Staff Propulsion Engineer who is fueled by problem-solving, continuously curious, and driven to understand our world, science/technology, and life itself, for the benefit of all on Earth and beyond. 

This role is posted for multiple positions and full time onsite in Houston, Texas.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead propulsion and program development activities from definition to execution
  • Develop designs, specifications and configurations for propulsion systems to meet requirements
  • Use modeling, analysis, and simulation tools to estimate system performance and ensure compliance
  • Lead and participate in design and gate reviews with suppliers and customers
  • Manage and interface with external vendors on cost, schedule, design, manufacturing, verification activities
  • Lead and coordinate planning for verification tests and analyses
  • Organize and evaluate tests, encompassing safety, technical, and risk evaluations and preparedness.
  • Oversee integration of propulsion hardware with testing facilities and equipment
  • Execute and support test activities for propulsion systems, including components such as thrusters, valves, instrumentation, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics required
  • 7-12 years of experience working on propulsion systems
  • Experience in the design, analysis, testing, certification and operation of space rated propulsion systems and components
  • 3D modeling software knowledge, SolidWorks is preferred
  • Analysis software knowledge, such as ANSYS, Easy5, Fluent, GFSSP, TDK preferred
  • Experience in development and qualification testing programs
  • Experience with MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, or other data acquisition and reduction software
  • Able to work effectively in an Agile / Scrum environment
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple project scopes and schedules
  • Knowledge of relevant aerospace design and test, and additive standards, such as SMC-S-016, NASA-STD-5009, AIAA-S-080, NASA-STD-5017, and NASA-STD-6030 
  • Knowledge of various additive and subtractive machining and joining techniques for metals

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
