Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic ECLSS LabVIEW Engineer who is fueled by problem-solving, continuously curious, and driven to understand our world, science/technology, and life itself, for the benefit of all on Earth and beyond. 

This position has multiple job openings and may be filled at multiple levels.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support design efforts for new ground test systems of space station environmental control and life support hardware.
  • Programming the User Interface and NI cRIO real time/FPGA code using LabVIEW for testing
  • Developing, designing, and building electrical break-out boxes and cable harnessing for the test systems
  • Programming and creating wiring diagrams for various instrumentation including pumps, blowers, chiller carts, heaters, proportionally controlled valves, solenoid valves, pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTD’s, flowmeters
  • Programming and wiring for various signal types including 4-20mA, 0-5 VDC, 0-10 VDC, RS-485, RS-232, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP, TTL, Discrete Input, Discrete Output
  • Creating, designing, and wiring the power distribution (12-48 VDC, 120-460 VAC) for the test systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • Required: 5-10 years’ experience in LabVIEW programming, or a combined equivalent of education and experience
  • Required: Ability to handle multiple assignments and working in a dynamic environment
  • Required: Familiarity with lab instrumentation such as pressure controllers, sensors, and computers
  • Required: Experience with LabVIEW RT
  • Required: Experience with at least one product line from National Instruments (cRIO controller and C Series NI hardware, cDAQ, PXI, etc)
  • Required: Experience with advanced architectures, communication methods, and instrumentation protocols such as Modbus, RS-232, RS-485, GPIB, and LAN
  • Preferred: Experience with LabVIEW FPGA
  • Preferred: LabVIEW programing with training certification

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
