We are growing and adding positions to our team! The job duties for the position of Home Health Aide (HHA) are listed below.
Job Summary: Primary function is to provide personal healthcare and related services as an extension of nursing or therapy services to the patient/client in their place of residence; to assist in providing a safe and clean environment; work cooperatively with the patient/client, caregiver(s), and family; and share observations and problems with the supervisor. Works under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
Job Qualifications: Education: High school graduate, preferred.
Licensure: Must have a current driver’s license.
Experience: At least one year experience preferred as a Home Health Aide or Nursing Assistant in a hospital, nursing home or home health agency. Must meet one of the following requirements: (1) a minimum of one year full-time experience in direct client care in an institutional setting (hospital or nursing facility); (2) one year full-time experience within the last five years in direct client care in an agency setting; (3) satisfactorily completed a training and competency evaluation program that complies with State and Federal requirements and have provided home health services within the previous 24 months; (4) satisfactorily completed a competency evaluation program that complies with State and Federal requirements and have provided home health services within the previous 24 months; (5) submitted to the Agency documentation from the director of programs or the dean of a school of nursing that states that the individual is a nursing student who has demonstrated competency in providing basic nursing skills in accordance with the school's curriculum; or (6) be on the Texas Department of Human Services' (DHS's) nurse aide registry with no finding against the aide relating to client abuse or neglect or misappropriation of client property.
Skills: Must be able to read, write, and verbally report clinical information to patients/clients, representatives, and caregiver(s), as well as to other Agency staff. Demonstrates interest in the welfare of the ill and elderly. Proof of current CPR certification. Successful completion of the Aide Competency Evaluation Skills Checklist and written Skills Test.
Transportation: Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance.
Environmental and Working Conditions: Works in patients’/clients’ homes in various conditions; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases; ability towork a flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather. Physical and Mental Effort: Prolonged standing and walking required, with ability to lift up to fifty pounds and move patients/clients. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines, to identify patient/client needs, to make quick decisions, and to meet patient/client and family psychosocial needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to use durable medical equipment in the home.
