    The job of Grants Technician is for the purposes of auditing, monitoring and accounting for governmental and private grants, contracts, and assigned programs; preparing cyclical and ad-hoc reports and presentations; reviewing processes and recommending changes; and supporting assigned Administrator in budgeting and grant management activities.
    Qualifications:
    • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Five years experience in accounting, bookkeeping, payroll or demonstrated competence in the tasks assigned preferred.
    • Preferred knowledge of computerized general ledger software systems (Visions) and other business applications.
    • Must be proficient in mathematical computations and accurate in detail work.
    • Ability to maintain accurate records.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and correspondence.
    • Knowledge of state and federal laws, statutes, regulations, etc. pertaining to grants management preferred.
    • Knowledge of requirements and guidelines through the Arizona Department of Education as it relates to grants management preferred.
    Duties and Responsibilities:
    1.Analyzes grant information (e.g. reporting timelines; accounting structure, exclusions, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
    2. Attends meetings, conferences, workshops, etc. (e.g. AASBO, state procurement regulations, auditor general, etc.) for the purpose of staying current on legal requirements of federal and state programs for verification of compliance relating to grants and other district internal controls.
    3. Audits a wide variety of documents and processes (e.g. PARS, payroll data, account allocations, internal controls, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with department, grant, and district processes and procedures and recommending improvements.
    4. Compiles a wide variety of detailed statistical and financial data for the purpose of ensuring compliance with grant requirements; meeting reporting requirements; and identifying discrepancies.
    5. Coordinates with a variety of internal and external parties for the purpose of reviewing schedules, prioritizing activities and resolving conflicts.
    6. Maintains a variety of manual and electronic documents, files and records (e.g. reports, spreadsheets, work flows, financial information, etc.) for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
    7. Prepares grant anticipated carryover calculations and compares to allowable grant carryover. Analyzes and reports results to appropriate administrators for the purpose of communicating possible non-compliance.
    8. Prepares a wide variety of complex and confidential manual and electronic materials, mandated reports and internal documentation (e.g. cash management and completion reports, budgets, grant documentation, percent spent by grant, invoices, reimbursement requests, reconciliations, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, conveying information and/or complying with mandated regulations requirements.
    9. Reviews grant spending plans for each grant with excess anticipated carryover for the purpose of documenting internal controls over budget balances. Trains district personnel regarding budget compliance with grant and district policies and procedures.
    10. Works in conjunction with Director of Curriculum and Innovation and Assistant Superintendent to develop and submit applications and reports to federal and state educational agencies to ensure compliance for funding.
    11. Collaborate with the appropriate administrators to plan assigned budgets respective to each grant.
    12. Serve as a program liaison to support staff to ensure compliance and program effectiveness.
    13. Coordinate preparation of materials and documentation prior to monitoring visits.
    14. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.Reports to: Director of Curriculum and Innovation
    Status: Classified Salary Schedule with District Benefits Package, 12 Month Position
