The Maintenance Specialist at Avivo is responsible for putting final touches on housing units in Avivo apartment buildings by completing painting and drywalling projects. As part of the Maintenance team, may be called upon to perform general repairs, which may include minor plumbing, carpentry, drywall repair and painting.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide cleaning, general maintenance and repairs for buildings and apartment units including minor plumbing and electrical, light carpentry, drywall repair and painting in a safe and efficient manner.
• Move furniture from storage to turnover apartments or offices and set up.
• Provide year-round grounds maintenance for housing facilities. Duties include but are not limited to: snow and ice removal, light landscaping, lawn care, plant and tree maintenance, and trash removal.
• Follow all safety and security procedures to ensure a safe environment for Avivo consumers and staff
• Ability to work flexible hours on occasion, such as to clear snow or respond to end of day emergencies.
• Ability to respond to after hours maintenance emergencies.
• Assist in emergency and evacuation procedures.
• Report all safety and security concerns immediately.
• Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff, agency and external meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect dignity of participants in accordance with H.I.P.A.A.
• Keep immediate supervisor informed of all issues of significance to facilitate prompt action as appropriate.
• Perform miscellaneous projects and complete varies tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

• High School Degree or GED or 1 year experience required. Ability to read English at high school level.
• Prefer at least 6 months experience as a building maintenance specialist or construction trades industry; or completion of an acceptable “trades” training program. Avivo is willing to train individuals with a demonstrated aptitude to learn necessary skills.
