Overview

Currently Currently seeking a skilled Working Carpenter. This role involves performing routine and specialized carpentry tasks in support of art gallery operations. The Working Carpenter must perform to the highest standards of workmanship in accordance with federal, state, and local building codes, including departmental guidelines.

The base salary is aligned with market data and is set at $48.16 per hour. This salary range reflects base compensation for the position across all US locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and other factors including relevant education/training, experience, and internal equity.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the Carpenter Foreman as required.
• Work within structured preventive maintenance program. Evaluate work order scope, order necessary materials, complete work, and close work orders in a timely fashion.
• Complete projects and tasks within the required deadlines.
• Work with internal and external clients to ensure fabricated products meet requirements.
• Provide quality craftsmanship for fabrication of exhibition enhancements, displays and props.
• Handle high value artwork and property as necessary during the course of business.
• Identify and report defective materials and/or questionable conditions to department supervisor.
• Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations
• Participate and complete all required safety training programs as directed by Supervisor.
• Participate in emergency response during critical events when called upon by Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a full-time carpenter in a museum, art gallery and or commercial or residential carpentry.
• High school diploma or GED is required. Trade or technical school certification/diploma is preferred.
• Must be able to work in a highly visible, public environment and maintain a professional attitude at all times.
• Must be able to perform, but not limited to, the following skills: carpentry, masonry, painting, and electrical (assist electrician).
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings, plans, sketches, and written specifications.
• Must organized, a self-starter and team player.
• Must be available to work random shifts on short notice or without advanced notice.
• Lift weights of up to 50lbs.
• Carry and work on ladders to height of 12’.
• Operate and work on scissor lifts to heights of 20’.
• Work with power tools including drills, table saws, jig saw, sawzall, andpneumatic nail gun.
• Work with hand tools including hammers, screw drivers, wrenches, etc.
