Description

The Project Manager is responsible for managing team and some client communications. The Project Manager interprets and plans for each job’s scope, costs, schedule, risks, and scale to lead the job smoothly through successful planning, execution, commissioning, and closure. The Project Manager has knowledge of construction-focused project management and the work involved, along with an ability to resolve problems by making appropriate and timely decisions. Responsible for communicating and scheduling with the customer and coordinating the installation with the customer, company installation and technical personnel, and any associated subcontractors. Key required skills include being a good communicator, having the ability to multi-task and manage stressful situations, and being responsible, self-motivated, personable, and well-organized.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

• Project assignments may include Avidex-designed and consultant-designed large scale, complex, and high-profile AV/IT projects.
• Provide guidance, task designation, and scheduling for other local project management staff.
• Assist the estimating team with resource estimation including labor, logistics, material, specialty tools, etc.
• Assist the estimating team with site surveys as needed.
• Responsible for working independently or in conjunction with a project team to plan, coordinate, schedule, execute, and complete multiple projects in parallel within each project’s time, cost, and scope constraints.
• Act as the point of contact and decision maker during the project execution phase as assigned.
• Create and manage the execution phase schedule. Set deadlines, assign responsibility, monitor, control, and summarize the progress of a project as needed.
• Responsible for each job’s assigned implementation team. Team structure will vary from job to job based on scale and complexity.
• Responsible for assigning individual responsibilities and maintaining accountability.
• Assure the project implementation team has the documentation, instructions, schedule, material, and tools required to execute the project scope.
• Throughout each project, prepare and update documentation including meeting notes, task lists, schedules, request for information (RFI) forms, request for change order (RFCO) forms, change orders (ICO, ECO), change logs, letters, memos, packing slips, punch-lists, record set documentation, and final acceptance forms to keep a job organized and running smoothly.
• Coordinate the equipment procurement schedule with the job schedule.
• Perform diagnostic troubleshooting on AV/IT systems when required and provide installation testing and punch list generation for completion by the integration team.
• Ensure that all project loose ends are tied up and assure that systems training to the customer is provided.
• Assure that all record set changes are documented.
• Ensure that all work complies with the company policies, procedures, standards, and conventions.
• Assist management with OSHA training, compliance, and reporting.
• Follow safety standards as equired by OSHA and management.
• Attend site and department safety and coordination meetings as required.
• Attend training classes and maintain certifications as required by management.
• Strive to maintain a 75% billable/chargeable workload by providing project management and technical support.
•  Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• Associate degree or higher. A degree in Business Administration, or Project Management is preferred.
• 2 years’ experience within the AV/IT or a related industry in a project management role.
• The ideal candidate will have their PMI PMP and AVIXA CTS certifications, or able to complete in 1-2 years.
• Good computer skills including proficiency with Windows, MS Office, and project management software.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication and negotiating skills, and be diplomatic in managing relationships amongst the customer, general contractor, subcontractors, consultants, and the Integration Manager/Supervisor, and able to conduct “hard” conversations with the customer.
• Must have the ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously. 
• Able to demonstrate planning, organizing, and implementing skills which allow for the successful completion of a project by a specific due date.
• Projects vary in length and locations. Occasionally, jobs may be outside of the local area requiring overnight travel and stays that could range from one night to several weeks away.
• Work sites vary from finished executive boardrooms to new construction sites. Most of the work is indoors, but site conditions vary drastically.
• Work hours will vary according to individual projects. Some jobs may require weekend commitments.
• The physical aspects of the role require the ability to occasionally climb ladders and scaffolding, and stamina and mobility such as walking, sitting, visiting customer sites, lifting, and carrying, standing, and kneeling and crouching for moderate periods of time. Must be able to see, hear, have good eye/hand/foot coordination, and be able to work in hot, humid places and cold places.
