AvidBit is Hiring a Low Voltage Technician/Installer Near Salt Lake, UT

This position requires good knowledge of electronics, preferably with a background in various low voltage system installation, hardware, software, and networking. Experience with CAT5/6, Fiber Optic, Access Control, and Audio Cabling is preferred. We are looking for a detail-oriented person with excellent trouble shooting skills and the ability to interface and communicate with customers clearly and effectively.

A large portion of this position will be installing and troubleshooting our custom Voice over IP phone system for our customers. This includes running cables, setting up phones, upgrading the network, installing paging systems and loud horns, and interfacing with and installing building Access Control systems.

We are constantly training and teaching on the job making it a great place to learn and expand your skillset. Our team solves technical issues and simplifies complex technical solutions for our customers in a timely and professional manner.

Essential Job Functions and Qualifications

  • Must be self-motivated and driven to accomplish large tasks and projects in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be willing to travel throughout Utah and neighboring states
  • Strong communication skills between project leads and yourself so everybody is on the same page.
  • Ability to explain complex tasks simply and effectively to customers and management
  • Ability to learn quickly and think analytically with strong critical thinking skills
  • 1 years of experience in IT or Low Voltage cabling is required
  • Knowledge or experience in structured wiring (new construction or existing construction) and data/internet protocols and cabling.
  • Strong project management, time management, customer service, and decision-making skills
  • Work Authorization - United States and a valid driver's license

Physical Requirements

  • Must be comfortable safely working from ladders at heights or on scissor lifts.
  • Must be able to provide physical labor for 8 hours a day
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to present yourself professionally and maintain good hygiene
  • Must pay attention to detail and have a “do it right the first time” mentality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Networking/Computer/Server knowledge (with certifications) or experience maintaining and managing network switches, routers, and access points
  • Existing knowledge of VoIP phone systems or experience setting up business phone systems
  • Strong writing skills to document and update customers via email and tickets
