JOB OVERVIEW

The GSE Mechanic (Ground Support Equipment) reports to the GSE Manager and is responsible for assisting the GSE operation from repairing or servicing tow truck, baggage carts, buses, and vans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:

• Repairs and services tow tractors, baggage carts, buses, trucks, and service vans
• Schedules periodic maintenance for ground support vehicles and equipment addressing whether repairs are needed
• Maintains heavy equipment that includes hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical machinery
• Inspects GSE (ground support equipment) and their components for the purpose of ensuring safety and identifying necessary
• Repairs and oversees an ongoing program of preventative maintenance
• Tracks inventory of parts and tools needed for repairs and maintenance
• Works with the GSE Manager to meet department goals and maintenance costs
• Responsible for completing all associated forms and reports for GSE Services as but not limited to billing, accidents, audits
• Training, service checks, and inventories
• Ensure the GSE shop is maintained in a neat and organized manner
• Liaise with the customer as required; ensuring proper work performance and customer needs are met
• Prepares and sends out daily turnover to appropriate departments identifying the status of vehicles and equipment
• Assist with other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, LICENSE, and/or CERTIFICATION

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must have a valid driver’s license

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE

• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical diagrams, basic measuring tools, and hand tools
• 3 years of relevant experience in diesel and gas maintenance of automobiles ground support equipment in a similar field

SKILL and/or ABILITIES

• Must be able to speak and understand both English and Spanish
• Must pass and obtain Airport ID process
• Must pass a criminal background check as well as a drug screen prior to employment
• Must be able to work safely in an environment containing caustic chemicals, cleaning materials, and noise
• Must have schedule flexibility for the weekend, holiday, and night shifts
• Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds in confined spaces
• Must be able to stand, lift, bend, push, and pull for extended periods of time
• Must be willing to work outside in all types of weather and elevated noise levels within the airport environment

TRAVEL

• Must be available to travel for work as required
