Aviation Institute of Maintenance is Hiring a Director of Aviation Maintenance Near Virginia, VA

JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
There are three main areas of responsibility for this position:

Academics/Curriculum

  • Assist in the development, design, and revision of academic curricula, syllabi and instructional plans based to ensure they are up-to-date, relevant, and compliant with the programs’ respective fields/industry, and accreditation.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert with regards to program content, course materials, and certifications required for all programs offered in aviation. This includes participating in audits, program evaluations, and accreditation visits with the assigned group of AIM schools.
  • Attend education-related meetings including Quarterly Program meetings, Directors of Education Meetings, Program Advisory Meetings.
  • Conduct a quarterly report of student pass rates on FAA A&P exams for the particular AIM group, keeping the entire organization updated on the pass rates of students within the school grouping and supporting the improvement of these rates.
  • Perform and complete other job-related duties, assignments, special projects as assigned by Supervisor.

Personnel Acquisition, Training & Development

  • Support and manage the process of maintaining instructors and academic leadership hiring levels within the group of assigned AIM schools to meet the campus’s current and growth goals.
  • Assisting in campus-based academics leadership hiring, training, and evaluation within the assigned AIM schools.
  • Assist the Directors of Aviation Maintenance with being the liaison for local, state, and national aviation-related agencies within the assigned AIM schools.
  • Participate in formal and informal mentoring of new AIM Directors of Education within the assigned AIM schools.

Facilities Management

  • Manage the AIM’s aviation equipment, including inspecting, assessing, and helping maintain the equipment, tools, aircraft, training aids, and physical plant of the technical environment of the assigned AIM schools.
  • Work with Operations, the EDAM, and local CEDs to manage the acquisition of additional equipment when needed, including, pricing, sourcing, purchasing, and managing logistics around procuring additional equipment, repurpose older equipment, and keep the equipment in alignment with AIM campus standards and expectations.
  • Work with Operations, the EDAM, and local CEDs to manage the professional and work-based appearance of the hanger and aviation-based labs and keep this space in alignment with AIM campus standards and expectations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide guidance to the Director of Education in the assigned groups of AIM schools.

Experience/Skills
  • At least 10 years of aviation experience, including at least 5 years of teaching experience with a Part 147 program.
  • At least 5 years of experience in supervising.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven, compliance-oriented educational environment.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized, and have the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism.
  • Persuasive and effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service in an educational setting.
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as collaborative team member and have exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills are required with proficiency in MS Office applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams. Campus Nexus experience a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of regular work shifts, including evenings and/or weekends as necessary or as requested by Supervisor.
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally or overnight for business purposes.
