Job Title: Startup Engineer - Plant Equipment Compliance & Operations

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Startup Engineer to ensure our plant equipment is in compliance with project contracts and specification requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering within a specific discipline, preferably related to power plants, and will be responsible for verifying that all equipment conforms to design and operational feasibility. This role involves setting up and testing equipment per supplier requirements, assisting in the development and maintenance of startup packages, and managing the transition of construction completion to operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify that plant equipment is in compliance with project contract and specification requirements and conforms to design and operational feasibility.
- Set up and test equipment according to supplier's requirements within the engineer's discipline capacity.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of startup packages, including tracking and controlling all necessary documentation.
- Participate in preparing and maintaining a detailed startup schedule.
- Proactively plan for startup activities and major milestones, such as major equipment installation, chemical cleaning, steam blow, or demonstration and performance testing.
- Manage construction completion, turnover to startup, startup turnover to operations, and final turnover to the client.
- Assist in developing clear startup procedures to meet contract requirements and coordinate startup efforts.
- Participate in the development and implementation of control programs for spares, consumables, outstanding work, deficiencies lists, etc.
- Execute startup efforts ensuring compliance with specifications and contracts, leading to efficient and timely turnover to the client.
- Conduct thorough system walkdowns/reviews to establish completion status and identify outstanding items.
- Serve as the responsible lead for plant equipment and systems within discipline capacity, being the primary point-of-contact for all system functions through startup and operation.
- Verify systems are installed per design, confirm design operational feasibility, record as-built engineering changes, and ensure proper setup and testing of equipment.
- Adhere to safety and quality standards relevant to duties and accountabilities.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and change management associated with implementation of improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred.
- 3 years of relevant startup experience in a similar role, preferably in power plants.
- Strong knowledge of discipline technical principles related to power plants.
- Familiarity with project instructions manuals, contract documents, startup guidelines, and division policies.
- Proficient in supervisory, communication, planning, multitasking, problem-solving, and computer skills.
- Knowledge of tools, equipment, and instruments used in job duties.
- Understanding of internal engineering systems and tools.
- OSHA 10 Hour Training certification.
- Proficiency in English (read, write, speak).
