Job Title: Recreational Therapist – Behavioral Health
Position reports to: Clinical Manager
Department: Social Work
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Recreational Therapist is to work as part of the multidisciplinary treatment team to provide direct care services for the patients. The primary function will be to facilitate the development or maintenance of physical, social, emotional, cognitive and behavioral skills utilizing recreation, play and educational interactive lecture formats in a safe, therapeutic and monetarily responsible manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduate of an accredited Therapy Program with a BS or Certificate in Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, or a related field.
Required Length and Type of Experience: One year’s work experience preferred. Experience working with behavioral health clients desirable.
Required Licensure, Certification or Registry: Current license/certificate in the State of Arizona.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provides therapeutic services for patients individually or in a group setting.
· Completes assessments and develops a plan of care to meet the specifically identified needs of the individual.
· Documents clinical assessments, responses to interventions and discharge needs in patient charts.
· Responsible for safety of patients, staff and facility areas.
· Communicates effectively with patients and staff.
· Prepared to interact with unexpected and impulsive behaviors of patients as needed.
· Ability to function in a fast paced and demanding environment by prioritizing and multi-tasking is essential, as is attention to detail.
· Abides by Professional Code of Ethics.
· Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patient rights.
· Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
· Seeks to improve the practice of behavioral health care utilizing results of patient satisfaction surveys.
· CPR Certification and Physical Crisis Intervention (CPI) training is required.
· Completes mandatory in-services and meets continuing education requirements applicable to this position.
· Adheres to all hospital and department policies and procedures.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Avenir Behavioral Health Center with excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our Standards of Performance each and every day.
