Job Description

Position Summary

As a System Administrator (Virtual Infrastructure) you will be responsible for managing and optimizing Azure and VMWare virtual server environments for our clients. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of virtualized infrastructures while delivering exceptional service and support to our clients.

Mission

Your mission is to leverage your expertise in virtualization technologies to optimize virtual server environments, enhance security measures, and streamline operational processes. By proactively addressing client needs and challenges, you will contribute to the success and growth of our MSP while exceeding client expectations.

How Success Is Measured

  • Effectiveness in optimizing virtual server environments to meet client requirements and performance benchmarks.
  • Timely resolution of technical issues and proactive identification of potential problems.
  • Client satisfaction and feedback on the quality of service provided.
  • Contribution to team collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Deployment and Configuration

  • Deploy and configure Azure and VMWare virtual server environments to meet client specifications.
  • Ensure integration and compatibility with existing infrastructure and applications.

Monitoring and Optimization

  • Monitor performance, resource utilization, and health status of virtual server environments.
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks and optimize system performance.

Troubleshooting and Resolution

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to virtualization, networking, and system administration.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and provide timely resolution of incidents.

Security Implementation

  • Implement security measures and access controls to protect virtual server environments.
  • Stay updated with security best practices and compliance standards.

Automation, Efficiency, and Disaster Recovery Planning

  • Develop and implement automation scripts/tools to streamline tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Plan and implement disaster recovery strategies to minimize downtime and data loss.
  • Document configurations, procedures, and best practices for knowledge sharing and consistency.

Strategic Planning and Consultation

  • Work closely with clients to develop technology roadmaps aligned with their business objectives and growth plans.
  • Provide strategic guidance and recommendations on technology investments, upgrades, and migrations to enhance efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to offer proactive advice and solutions to clients.

Vendor Management

  • Collaborate with vendors and partners to procure necessary hardware, software, and services for virtual server environments.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements to ensure quality and timely delivery of products and services.

IT Projects

  • Participate in IT projects related to virtual server environments, such as upgrades, migrations, and implementations.
  • Collaborate with project teams to define project requirements, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Assist in project planning, resource allocation, and coordination to ensure successful project outcomes and client satisfaction.

Must be proficient in

  • 3-5 years of experience in Azure and VMWare virtualization technologies.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Security expertise and knowledge of best practices for securing virtual server environments.
  • Automation skills to streamline operational tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Communication and collaboration with clients and internal teams.
  • Adaptability and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Qualification and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Certification in Azure (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect) and VMWare (e.g., VMWare Certified Professional) is highly desirable.
  • 3-5 years of experience in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles, protocols, and technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and technologies (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform) is a plus.

Skills & Abilities

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing virtual server environments, preferably in an MSP or similar environment.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in Azure and VMWare, scripting for automation, networking, security best practices, monitoring tools, backup and recovery solutions, troubleshooting, documentation, and cloud computing concepts are essential computer skills for a Virtual Server Environment Sys Admin.

Certifications: Microsoft Server, Azure, VMWare, A Network
