In keeping with our organization’s goal of improving the lives of the residents we serve, the Bus Driver at Avantara Mountain View is responsible for getting clients with mobility challenges to their destinations safely and on time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The Driver at Avantara Mountain View will:
1. Arrive to work in a timely manner.
2. Take work orders from supervisor for client trip.
3. Drive clients to their destinations on time, including clients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips and special equipment.
4. Assist clients as they get into and out of the vehicle.
5. Report back to the supervisor when clients have been dropped off at their destination.
6. Report traffic delays, incidents, or accidents back to supervisor.
7. Operate wheelchair lifts as needed.
8. Adhere to company policies and protocol.
9. Assure that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained at all times.
10. Follow established safety precautions when preforming tasks and using equipment and supplies.
11. Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of residents and interact with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment.
12. Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
13. Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, accidents/incidents and supply issues to the supervisor.
14. Ensure each Guest receives person centered care.
15. Answers and respond to call lights promptly and courteously when working in resident care areas.
16. Reports all resident concerns to the appropriate department head.
17. Attend and participate in departmental meetings and in-services as directed.
18. Recognize your role as part of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts of your organization.
19. Attend trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work.
20. Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.
21. Participate in compliance trainings as scheduled and adhere to compliance plan.
22. Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility - This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment - This job operates in health care and community settings. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility, community and outside weather conditions while pulling or pushing residents in wheelchairs. This role also requires the operation of a motor vehicle. This is role may also come into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses.
Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping on a regular basis. The employee must be able to lift and move items (and patients) weighing at least 50 pounds.
Specific Vision Abilities Required by this Job - close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work - This position is part of a health care facility that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
Travel - Travel to and from various locations in the surrounding community will be expected.
Required Education and Experience · High school diploma or equivalent · Valid, unencumbered Driver’s License or other motor vehicle operator license required by the State of South Dakota (CDL not required but is a plus) · Clean driving record.
