Job Description

The Role

The Microsoft 365 and Digital Workplace Lead Architect is a technical role with experience in multiple technologies for the delivery of Microsoft 365 Cloud services utilized by end users for productivity and communications. The Microsoft 365 Architect provides expertise within IT and across the business supporting solutions that enhance productivity with a focus on building flexible, scalable, and secure solutions in Microsoft 365. The Microsoft 365 Architect has an in-depth knowledge of the entire Microsoft 365 application stack, and how to best leverage and integrate those applications in the enterprise environment. These solutions should enable identity and access management, productivity, data access, mobility management and increase the organization’s ability to collaborate across teams, departments, and geographic regions. The Microsoft 365 Architect also provides technical leadership and escalation for resolving incidents, fulfilling work requests, and completing project deliverables.

Job Roles and Responsibilities

• Build, manage, and administer the organization-wide deployment of Microsoft 365 enterprise platform (Productivity via Office Applications, Enterprise Collaboration via Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint, Email and Calendaring via Exchange Online, Enterprise Mobility Management via Intune, Automation via Power Platform, Microsoft Entra ID, etc.)
• Identifies new areas and business processes where Microsoft 365 Solutions such as Power Platform, Exchange Online, OneDrive, Teams, Intune, and others can be leveraged for increased business value and facilitates continual process improvement.
• Participates in the development and maintenance of technology roadmaps.
• Participate in short- and long-term enterprise architecture planning to meet current and expanding business requirements.
• Configuration and management of Windows-based corporate systems and personal mobile devices via Microsoft Intune
• Configuration and management of Microsoft Autopilot to set up and pre-configure new devices, getting them ready for productive use.
• Build and maintain automation to manage the on prem and cloud infrastructure related to Microsoft 365 and Active Directory
• Configure and monitor cloud infrastructure in Azure (including Intune, Autopilot, Azure Virtual Desktop, etc.)
• Troubleshoot and repair complex technical problems with team members, customers, and vendors quickly and effectively.
• Work with the IT Security Team to design and build a secure operating system and data access environment.
• Develop implementation plans for projects with multiple deliverables.
• Leads execution for infrastructure projects related to areas of expertise.
• Provide thorough testing as part of proof-of-concept development for new technologies.
• Helps to define and measure KPIs to maintain health of services.
• Participates in initiatives to evolve technologies and drive continuous improvement of services.
• Acts as escalation point for complex issues related to areas of expertise.
• Collaborates with all areas of IT to design and implement solutions.
• Provides technical leadership as part of cross-functional project teams.
• Participates in support, recovery, maintenance, and project activities outside normal business hours as needed.
• Prepare detailed documentation of standard operating procedures.
• Create and periodically update architectural documentation.
• Stay abreast of trends in End User Support, management, technologies, policies, procedures, and other external changes that could have an impact on IT services.
• Provide executive support to Senior Leadership Team.
• Lead and work closely with the main office local IT team to support end users on site. Additionally support the desktop team on desktop related issues, SCCM, Microsoft 365 Apps, and other windows related support.
• Need to get certified every year related to Microsoft 365.

Required

• 10-15 years overall information technology experience with 6 years working experience as an Microsoft 365 Architect
• Worked in a Global Organization at least 5 years demonstrated success supporting and maintaining remote end user services.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field (Business, Computer Science, Information Systems)
• Understanding of ITIL/ITSM best practices
• Ability to work independently, as part of a team or in a lead role, including leading teams.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work effectively on multiple priorities with firm delivery dates.
• Effective communication skills within information technology and business environments.

• System/Program Specific Experience:
  • Solid understanding of the Microsoft 365 platform and apps
  • Experience with third party migration tools for Microsoft 365 platform and apps.
  • Hands-on leadership experience of Exchange to Microsoft 365 migrations.
  • Significant experience within a large-scale Windows Enterprise customer/employer.
  • Solid understanding of legacy Microsoft Exchange versions and Microsoft Exchange Online.
  • Solid understanding of Hybrid Azure Active Directory and Active Directory Federation Services.
  • Experience with PowerShell, PowerShell Workflow and troubleshooting PowerShell ISE
  • Identity Management (Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Identity Manager/FIM)

• Additional experience required:
  • Prior Microsoft 365 mailbox migration experience.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of IT security risks.
  • Deep understanding of desktop systems and applications.
  • Experience in enterprise software operating environments
  • Microsoft data protection technologies (Azure Information Protection)
  • Deep understanding on Azure Virtual Desktop

Preferred

• Microsoft 365 Certified
• Certified in ITIL Foundation
• Knowledge of technical infrastructure and end user computing including networking, Mac and iOS, telecom, broadband, hardware, software configuration.
