Here is what you can expect in your role – also known as responsibilities:

Sales Responsibilities:

  • Travel throughout assigned territory to call on Retail, Commercial, and ProPartner accounts
  • Measure projects at customer’s home or business, create diagram of room(s) for which material will be installed and review the diagram with the customer
  • Drive sales and GP through selling, up selling and cross selling products and services and sell the whole project. Display and demonstrate product using samples and emphasize features
  • Notify customer of any unusual circumstances due to the technical aspects of the particular job and make other recommendations when necessary. These issues must me noted on the contract
  • Build the order using Selection Sheet Manager (SSM)
  • Review the scope of the project with the customer and quote the prices
  • Prepare the contract(s) review each contract with the customer and obtain customer’s signatures using DocuSign
  • Collect proper deposit as dictated by State and Customer Type
  • Estimate date of delivery/installation to customer, based on current installation availability and lead time of products
  • Review Pre-Installation Guide with customer to ensure that the room(s) will be ready for installation. Obtain customers initials via DocuSign for this document
  • Accurately convert SSM to an order within 24 to 48 hours of receipt of a signed contract.
  • Turn in all paperwork in a timely manner
  • Interact with Purchasing and Installation Departments to ensure proper ordering of material and installation
  • Enter specific Next Steps for follow up in SSM within 1 hour of estimate (Typically before leaving the job, so the customer is in the loop), and follow up with Sales Associate on all unclosed estimate
  • Use the appropriate price level based of the customer type. (LP, LD, TR, or PP)
  • Work with Sales Associates to keep account activities and assure timely follow up
  • Use Installation Sales Follow-Up Date in SSM and provide person follow up with customers
  • Support Sales Associates at store level by working with customers and closing sales. Follow up on all customer issues, questions, concerns and support Sales Associates with satisfying customers’ needs
  • Assist in training a Sales Associate on product, estimating, or installations. This includes Sales Associate’s traveling with Installation Sales to estimates and job sites
  • Provide details and assistance to the Installation Departments as needed by investigating and resolving customer problems in timely manner
  • Create new business opportunities in the local home builder, contractor, designer, and architectural industries
  • Participate in weekly store meetings by reviewing field experience. This will include sharing best practices for product recommendations, update job status’ or other pertinent information to help improve the sales process
  • Manage schedule to allow for participation in store meetings to include vendor presentations

Service Responsibilities:

  • Model exemplary customer service interactions through consistent language, mindset, and technology usage that represents the Avalon way
  • Demonstrate the Avalon Social Code to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all colleagues and customers in the store, on the phone, and through email communication
  • Assist other colleagues’ customers as needed to provide seamless experiences
  • Follow up with customers, managers, Sales Associates, and the installation department on all requests and issues

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Selling Process
  • Estimating experience required
  • Flooring estimating experience preferred
  • The ability to work a 5-day, 42.5 hour work week (including most weekends)
  • Ability to travel within our Central Region
  • Comprehensive understanding and use of technology while working with customers
  • Demonstrated math skills needed for building trades
  • Minimum of 1 year of retail sales experience is preferred
  • Product knowledge of flooring, flooring installation and construction
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues and customers
  • Able to identify and solve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, and develop alternative solutions
  • Exhibit patience and grace in managing difficult or emotional customer situations and respond promptly to customer needs
  • Design sensibility to generate creative solutions to design challenges and translate concepts and information into images and contracts.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to modify designs using customer feedback
  • Business acumen and good judgment around profitability and the customer experience
  • Strong knowledge of market and competition, and Avalon’s unique competitive advantage
  • Skills to coordinate and complete projects on time, within budget, and with effective communication
  • Ability to embrace change within the company and any specific role

Ideally, you’ll also have …

  • Experience in the flooring/home improvement industry
  • Commission or incentive-based sales experience
