Summary:

Responsible for the timely and safe transportation of gate systems from place of origin to the assigned destination. The Truck Driver will also serve as back up for local deliveries and pick up of company supplies and may also be scheduled to fill in for maintenance, material handling or other departments as needed or required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ability to travel per DOT regulated hours of service
• Must be able to deliver to Federal, State, and Military facilities.
• Operate company-owned vehicles with or without attached gooseneck trailer, with a total weight of less than 26,000 pounds
• Safely operate material handling equipment including but not limited to forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, according to company regulation and specifications
• Ensure trailer hitch is properly and securely attached to the tractor unit
• Pick up loads and organize goods in an ordered, logical manner Ensure contents are properly secured on the trailer to prevent breakage or damage
• Obtain signatures or warehouse scans to confirm and complete deliveries with customers
• Assist in mapping and staying on predetermined delivery routes to ensure company’s solid reputation for on-time deliveries and superior customer service. Routes must include required rest periods
• Confirm contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document
• Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip including but not limited to checking weather conditions and road reports
• Ensure cleanliness of vehicle
• Maintain daily log, and other required records for compliance with state and federal regulations, with a record of miles driven, packages delivered, and signatures accumulated
• Adhere to company rules and regulations
• Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions
• Comply with ICC and DOT regulations
• Other duties may be assigned

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, check tire pressure, etc.)
• Notify manager of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered
• Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs; track and report working hours
• Ability to stay overnight at locations that are four (4) hours or greater from point of origin

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent, current valid Ohio driver’s license, currently hold a Ohio Class B CDL with a minimum of two or more years with a CDL, documented miles of 30,000 or greater per year, proven experience with driving large vehicles, clean driving record with no moving violations or DUI within seven years, comfortable with maneuvering and parking a vehicle with a trailer. Proficient in using GPS and other routing systems. Ability to lift 50 lbs. without assistance or equipment.

Personal Protective Equipment: The person performing this job function is required to wear safety glasses with side shields at any time that they are performing any duties in the production area of the shop. Safety shoes should be worn when on the production floor; open toe shoes and sandals are not permitted in the production areas of the shop.
