Description

Due to current and expected growth, AutoGate is looking to add some Material Handlers to our team!

Summary

Unloads by hand or with forklift when applicable, conducts quality checks, receives items into ERP system, and properly shelves all inbound raw materials and/or purchase parts, freight, and UPS deliveries. Safely loads outbound freight, processes appropriate paperwork, and maintains clean and orderly dock and outside grounds areas. Stages parts and materials for jobs in any work centers as required. Maintains inventory storage areas, conducts cycle counts, and transfers inventory from Storage locations to Work Centers as needed, both physically and within the ERP System.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesincludes but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintains good general housekeeping, a clean and safe work environment free of trash and debris
  • Follows all safety rules
  • Completes and submits all paperwork to appropriate personnel, and/or processes transaction themselves for all incoming or outgoing freight and job staging
  • Accurately records all transactions in a timely manner
  • Other duties may be assigned

Raw Material and Freight

  • Controls delivery driver access to plant
  • Safely unloads and/or loads trucks by hand or with a forklift
  • Verifies all documentation, quantities, part numbers, material descriptions, and conducts quality inspections as designated. Approves and/or rejects parts per quality system guidelines
  • Verifies all items on the pack list match the items on the purchase order, notes all discrepancies
  • Signs for all materials and freight
  • Shelves all items in their respective location
  • Assures that all items for shipment are present and loaded to truck

UPS/FedEx

  • Signs for all packages
  • Opens all packages to verify contents and distributes to correct personnel and/or location
  • Verifies all items on the pack list match the items on the purchase order and note all discrepancies
  • Label and shelve all items in their respective locations
  • Completes and submits paperwork to the receiving clerk
  • Assembles packaging and label as required to ship parts and other freight

Staging Jobs

  • Gathers all items needed by operator to complete task per job traveler and distribute to appropriate work center. Mark job traveler appropriately.
  • Maintain desired inventory quantities in storage areas per inventory system. Alert purchasing and inventory control when items are low.
  • Conduct cycle counts as required

Qualifications


Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and at least one year experience and/or training in similar environments involving shipping, receiving, quality inspection, inventory control and packaging.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratios and percent, and to interpret simple graphs. Must be able to read tape measure to 32nds of an inch and use micrometers and calipers. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is often required to walk and occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is also exposed to outdoor weather elements year-round as loading docks are outside and some receiving is done outside the building.

Personal Protective Equipment
The person performing this job function is required to wear safety glasses with side shields at any time that are performing any duties in the production area of the shop. The person performing this job function is not required to wear safety shoes but should limit exposure to areas of the shop that are not marked walkways. Open toe shoes or sandals are not permitted in the production areas of the shop.
