Position Summary:
Autism Supports Professionals provide one-on-one services to individuals with autism ages 5 years through adulthood, teaching them various skills that greatly enhance their lives. We are seeking energetic applicants with a passion for working part-time with people with disabilities on individualized goals in areas such as social skills, communication, and daily living.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
To provide instruction, support and supervision to participants to teach appropriate skills and behaviors for maximum involvement and success in the community.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED is required. Some college is preferred.
Experience: Experience in working with children or adults with disabilities is preferred but not required in all cases.
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 10 pounds, stand, walk, sit, use hands or fingers, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Decision Making
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Communication
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Work Environment
Varies - In the field and office.
