Job Responsibilities:
The Behavior Technician will be responsible for providing in-home services to children with special needs under the management of the agency’s Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Director. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ø Provide Applied Behavior Analysis treatment including: behavior management, discrete trial training, pivotal response training, social skills, and parent education to families with children with special needs. Each session will last 2-3 hours depending on family needs. Behavioral Technician will follow through with the appropriate services as determined by the agency’s Clinical Supervisor.
Ø Collect data using the accurate and appropriate data collection system throughout each session.
Ø Turn in data before or on the 5th of every month to Clinical Supervisor for previous month’s data.
Ø Indicate a need to check for mastery and introduction of new programs into the program list to the Clinical Supervisor on each individual case.
Ø Attend family team meetings as directed by the Clinical Supervisor on each individual case.
Ø Maintain contact via phone a minimum of once per week with the Clinical Supervisor.
Ø Check e-mail minimum of once every 24 hours.
Ø Attend quarterly staff meetings and professional development meetings.
Ø Report any incidents and communications from the parents to Clinical Supervisor and/or Clinical Director on each case.
Ø Contact the Clinical Supervisor at least 24 hours prior to missing a shift. The missed shift must be rescheduled for a time during the same month.
Ø Attend to other duties assigned and/or approved by the Clinical Supervisor or Clinical Director.
Job Requirements:
Ø BA or BS in progress, in the field of Psychology, Sociology, Child Development or other related field. Must be self-motivated, responsible, honest, articulate and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ø Have a minimum understanding of ABA/DTT/PRT/VB and be able to pass a competency test with a minimum passing grade of 90%.
Ø Present a professional demeanor, be well organized and pay attention to detail.
Ø Have excellent time management skills and knowledge of city maps.
Ø Be able to serve culturally and linguistically diverse families in low and high social economic status areas.
Ø Be comfortable working in homes (studio apt, housing projects, etc) of families with limited resources.
Ø Maintain professional boundaries, professional composure and work well under pressure.
Ø Politely interact with individuals and families who may be uncooperative or aloof.
Ø Maintain professionalism if and when a client aggresses, self-injuries, tantrums, screams, etc.
Ø Implement behavior modification strategies and discrete trial teaching under agency supervision.
Ø Effectively communicate with others (clients, family members, agency staff, etc)
Ø Accept, follow, and implement direction from agency representatives.
Ø Be creative, spontaneous, independent, and animated in your gestures, facial expressions and voice interactions.
Ø Have a telephone and reliable method to record scheduled appointments and return phone calls within 24 hours.
Ø Have reliable transportation and current liability insurance for the vehicle.
Ø Stand, sit, twist, kneel, bend-over, crouch down, walk, and sit/play on the floor for extended periods of time.
Ø Be able to lift, push, and pull up top 40 pounds without assistance from another adult.
