Scope/Purpose:

The Program Specialist is an essential member of the programs team, supporting day-to-day tasks necessary to provide services to individuals/families enrolled in A-Team or Project Lifesaver. A-Team is peer group programming for adolescent-aged children with autism, with the goal of fostering relationships, skill development and confidence. Project Lifesaver is a collaboration with Omaha Police Department to provide wearable technology that assists in the reunification of individuals prone to wandering/elopement. The Specialist’s priority is direct service and data collection but will also include indirect program, office, and organizational support responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Support the implementation of adolescent support programming (A-Team)

· Support the design and implementation of new and/or modified lesson plans

· Be responsible for all Project Lifesaver program components, including enrollments, data entry, scheduling, band/battery maintenance, and equipment inventory

· Perform program data collection, data entry, analysis, and report as needed to monitor program outcomes

· Support AAP education, outreach, and inclusion efforts

· Actively participate in program and organization events

Skills and/or Qualifications (not limited to):

· RBT credential required (or ability to obtain within 6 months); Must have the ability to obtain outside BCBA for credential supervision

· Bilingual skills highly preferred

· Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred

· Desire to serve individuals and families impacted by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

· Schedule flexibility and task adaptability

· Capable of spontaneously adjusting expectations and approaches to effectively engage individuals with ASD

· Demonstrated sensitivity and experience working with individuals from diverse social, economic, ethnic, academic, and cultural backgrounds required

· Experience with MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

· Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and creativity

· Must be willing and able to regularly work in the evenings and weekends

· Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Prolonged periods of standing and actively engaging in games/activities with participants

Complexity/Diversity of Work:

This position involves a wide array of tasks and activities. The position requires a highly flexible and motivated individual, with a strong desire to directly support and enrich the lives of those with autism. The Specialist must have the ability to successfully interact with members of the autism community of all ages and their families. This position will have frequent contact with other members of the AAP team, individuals and families served by AAP, external agencies, and the general community. All employees must represent AAP in a manner that instills hope, trust, and inspiration among members of both the autism and non-autism community.

COMPENSATION

· $38,000-42,000 starting annual salary (based on skill level and experience)
