A TEAM OF DIFFERENCE MAKERS:

At Author Heath, we are dedicated to meeting our patients and their caregivers where they are with a hybrid care model—virtual clinicians with in-market support staff—that flexibly supports our patients’ health and needs.. We are seeking professionals who are enthusiastic about working on a tech-enabled interdisciplinary team to support an underserved population of older adults with psychiatric illness. We value non-judgmental, respectful, and empathetic interactions, aiming to meet the unique needs of each patient and caregiver. Our primary mission is to deliver outstanding care for seniors with serious mental illness (SMI), substance use disorders (SUD) and dementia. We are committed to making a significant impact in the lives of older adults and their caregivers. With our advanced technology, our patients and their caregivers can receive care focused on meeting their needs holistically. Join us in our mission to revolutionize healthcare.

WHAT IS YOUR SUPERPOWER?

  • Conduct initial psychiatric assessments and follow-up care virtually, focusing on seniors with SMI, through collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop comprehensive treatment plans, including medication management, psychotherapy referrals, and identifying health-related social needs (HRSN).
  • Work seamlessly within a team comprising psychiatry professionals (MD/DO/NP), primary care physicians, psychotherapists, community health workers, and care managers to address the holistic needs of patients.
  • Deliver care and education tailored to the patient's age, physical ability, educational level, and cultural background, engaging family members as necessary.
  • Provide supervision to a team of NPs and lead interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure patients’ psychiatric, medical, and social needs are met.
  • Actively participate in coordinating care with primary care physicians and other medical professionals involved in the patient's care.
  • Be readily available for psychiatric urgent care needs and comfortable ordering necessary laboratory and imaging workups.
  • Ensure timely and comprehensive documentation of clinical interactions in the electronic health record system.
  • Thrive in a new care delivery paradigm within a fast-paced, evolving environment.

WHAT WE ARE SEEKING:

  • Board-certified psychiatrist licensed to practice in Florida and/or Texas (licenses and accompanying DEAs required for each state).
  • Over five years of direct psychiatric care experience required; over seven years preferred. Experience with seniors, SMI, and dementia patients highly valued.
  • A self-starter who takes initiative and is comfortable working in a growing environment.
  • Experience working in a collaborative care model and on a multidisciplinary team is highly preferred.
  • Experience providing supervision to NPs highly preferred.
  • Comfortable managing patients with complex medical and psychosocial needs.
  • Full-time position, 40 hours/week (anticipating 25-30 hours/week of direct virtual patient care), with occasional on-call responsibilities.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to use a computer effectively.
