SUMMARY 

Since 2000, SummerGarden and Camp Roadrunner have provided Austin Waldorf School families, and families from the greater community, with wholesome summer fun. We strive to offer unique activities that create lasting memories for the children in our program. Built upon the Waldorf understanding of the developing child, our camps provide children ages three to twelve with a nurturing environment, allowing the imagination to unfold. Our natural hill country setting is the ideal place for children to experience a Texas summer and the majority of our day is spent outside on a well shaded playground. Activities include swimming, crafts, circle games, cooking, and story time. Within the rhythm of our day, time for snack, lunch, and nap is also included. Our summer camp is a wonderful opportunity for children from all backgrounds and each week encourages self-expression and creativity in a friendly and fun environment.

AWS is seeking part-time Summer Camp Extended Day Staff. Extended Day Staff work on campus from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday for a total of 15 hours a week. The Extended Day Staff support the children in healthy and safe play to ensure continuity of care. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated successful work experience and familiarity and interest in Waldorf education. As a member of the Summer Faculty, you are expected to work in cooperation with other instructors and staff.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PRE-CAMP 

• Work with AWS staff to attain camp materials 
• Read and follow updated policies and procedures 
• Complete all paperwork by deadline provided 
• Work cooperatively with administration and staff 
• Communicate any concerns or issues directly to the Program Director 

DURING CAMP

• Follow Camp Handbook guidelines 
• Be on time and ready to receive students as specified in handbook schedule 
• Review medical/special need forms provided by parents 
• Provide additional information to students who need extra guidance or additional challenge 
• Communicate any concerns or issues about anything directly to the Program Director 
• Be able to problem solve and adapt to the needs of students, modifying as needed 
• Manage disruptive behavior
• Handle disciplinary problems as directed in Handbook
• Notify Program Director of issues/needs and they arise
• Ensure the safety of all students
• Create a fun and inclusive atmosphere
• Promote teamwork and a positive work environment
• Keep track of supplies and equipment. Supply requests to be made through Program Director
• Ensure the classroom is as clean as is was before class started; enlist students to help with clean up
