Austin Waldorf School is seeking an enthusiastic high school Physics teacher to join our dedicated and collaborative faculty for the 2024-2025 school year. Our team of specialists is looking for an applicant who is passionate about the study and teaching of physics and can render their subject to high school students in a dynamic and practical way. Preference will be given to applicants with practical expertise in Physics. Experience or knowledge in related fields such as astronomy, math and geometry, or additional expertise in other sciences, is a plus.
Job Description
The Austin Waldorf High School Physics educator teaches science block courses to 9th-12th graders, including Thermal Physics in the 9th grade, Kinematics and Mechanics in the 10th grade, Electricity and Magnetism in the 11th grade, and Optics and 21st Century Physics in the 12th grade. Astronomy may also be included in the scope of this position, if applicable. The physics teacher also teaches an 11th grade Physics elective that runs throughout the school year.
Classes include theoretical instruction, research, and components of experiential education. Common class activities would be executing and writing experimental reports or drawing diagrams. The curriculum is based on a foundation of in-class demonstrations and students’ experiments and is situated in the context of understanding and experiencing the living world around us.
