Austin Retina Associates is Hiring a Scribe Auditor Near Austin, TX

Summary

The Auditors at Austin Retina help continuously improve chart documentation and coding standards while maintaining a communicative relationship with the scribes. The auditing processes include continuous feedback between the doctor, scribe, and auditor to provide quality documentation for insurance purposes as well as a document for the patient to understand their current treatment plan with minimal documentation errors.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining all responsibilities of auditing and surgery posting
  • Hold monthly meetings with your team and individual peers O3s including maintaining an agenda to keep meetings efficient and necessary
  • Hold monthly meetings with the Supervisor
  • Collaborate with the Supervisor on team members’ annual performance reviews
  • Support and encourage fellow team members in areas in which they need assistance
  • Ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner and by the due dates
  • Ensure the division of work is equal and fair among the team members
  • Be able to work with the team members to increase productivity as needed
  • Utilize Lean tools and methodologies to identify, analyze, and problem-solve division of work concerns. For example, standard work, huddles, 5S, A3, parking lot, and trials.
  • With team's assistance, collect, graph, and present data for 3-5 metrics, monitoring team effectiveness on a monthly basis
  • With team's assistance, identify any areas or frequent bottlenecks in your team, and problem-solve together to find ways to minimize waste via small-scale trials. For example, coding errors, reconciliations, and duplicated work. Trials to be completed and reported quarterly
  • Work with the supervisors to assist staffing and make recommendations to ensure efficient operations and adequate staffing. For example, change in rotations, and change in the division of physicians
  • Work with team to set group and individual goals, providing cross-training opportunities
  • Work with Education Coordinator to enhance and deliver training, teach new members, and share with those interested in auditing/surgery position
  • Collaborate with other Education Coordinators on large-scale events, and training initiatives
  • Provide regular updates to supervisor on team’s progress, and assist with monitoring employee performance and experience
  • Review and assess clinical employees’ skills regularly ensuring all necessary continuing education is provided
  • Maintain standard of work and assessments
  • Other duties and responsibilities as requested as assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of auditor training and 1 year minimum of hands-on auditing experience
  • Moderate understanding of documentation and coding requirements
  • Moderate understanding of ICD 10 and CPT codes
  • Able to share feedback, coding requirements, and training explanations with others
  • Must have a consistent work record of respect, courtesy, teamwork, and integrity in your work and your interactions with others
  • Complete Lean Certification and attend LDP trainings

Other Position Details

  • Schedule generally weekdays, full-time schedule, flexible hours
  • Remote position laptop provided
  • Some travel may be required
  • Hourly pay (FLSA non-exempt, eligible for overtime) with schedule and overtime pre-approved by direct Supervisor

Physical Demands & Requirements

Required to stand, walk and sit; talk and hear both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift overhead and up to 10 pounds on occasion. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Viewing images and operating computer devices, frequently using a computer laptop or terminal.
