Description

***ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE FALL 2024 TO INTERN AUGUST 2024 to MAY 2025****

Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is looking for a Master's-level student pursuing their concentration/clinical internship or a Doctoral-level student pursuing their externship placement. The Student Intern will provide mental health consultation alongside our community-facing Early Childhood and Mental Health Consultation team. The Student Intern role will include providing child, classroom, and program-focused consultation in early care and education environments, supporting parents, facilitating Circle of Security groups (Parenting and Classroom), with the opportunity to explore providing consultation in less traditional environments (child welfare, pediatrician's offices). The student intern will also participate in professional development opportunities and team meetings with the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation team. This is a second year internship only.

Schedule. Team meetings are on Mondays, so it's important that the applicant can attend Monday afternoon meetings. Outside of Mondays, the applicant can collaborate with their assigned sites and create a schedule during the work week that will work for both parties. The applicant simply needs to get their hours in on a weekly basis, as required by the program. The work is hybrid.

About the team.

The Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation team is part of our Early Childhood and Family Center (ECFC) at AMHR. This team is comprised of masters-level clinicians who provide mental health consultation to adults who support children ages 0-5 years. This includes but is not limited to parents, early care and education providers, child welfare, and pediatrician's offices.

About you.

  • Master's-level student pursuing their concentration/clinical internship or a Doctoral-level student pursuing their externship placement.
  • The ideal candidate is in their second (clinical/concentration) internship in a masters program, or their externship in a doctoral program, and approaches their work using a DEI lens.
  • They ideally have interest in both micro and macro work.
  • Work experience in a classroom setting is a plus.
  • This is relationship-based work, so the ability to work as a collaborative partner is key.
  • Someone in their clinical/concentration year in a mental health discipline, who has experience in early childhood.

Why you will enjoy interning at AMHR.

  • Aurora Mental Health and Recovery is a large and diverse community mental health organization that serves clientele across the lifespan. Interns at our site have the opportunity to collaborate with other professionals across the agency and receive ongoing support and training.
  • As part of workforce development initiatives, the intern will also have the opportunity to participate in additional outside trainings, free-of-charge.
