This 138-bed free standing psychiatric inpatient hospital and outpatient program located in Tempe, AZ is looking for a highly motivated Financial Counselor/AHCCCS Specialist. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and accomplish assigned tasks. This position is under the supervision of the Business Office Manager.

The Financial Counselor/AHCCCS Specialist ensures that accurate financial information and documentation is available and insures all patients are advised of their financial responsibility, verifying insurance benefits, making appropriate financial arrangements according to the hospital’s financial policy and assistance with AHCCCS applications when appropriate. Responsibilities will also include collecting on active accounts including, past due and disputed items, assisting customers in reconciling accounts, ensuring an accurate and timely response to customers' inquiries to the status of their account, and communicate professionally with internal customers and external customers to effectively understand and resolve any customers' inquiry issues. Also ability to learn and assist the admitting process. This is not an entry level position and only experienced candidates will be considered.

• MEDICAL INSURANCE VERIFICATION EXPERIENCE
• EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS
• STRONG COMMUNICATION SKILLS
• EXPERIENCE IN SELF-PAY COLLECTIONS IN A HOSPITAL SETTING IS A PLUS
• KNOWLEDGE OF BUSINESS OFFICE FUNCTIONS
• ABILITY TO PREPARE AND PRESENT SOUND FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR COLLECTIONS
• ADVANCED COMPUTER SKILLS – WORD, EXCEL – IS A MUST
• BEHAVIORAL HEALTH EXPERIENCE IS PREFERRED
• EXPERIENCE WITH HEA AND AZ AHCCCS APPLICATIONS PREFERRED

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT GED
• AT LEAST ONE YEAR COLLECTION EXPERIENCE
• MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OLD
• ABILITY TO MEET QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ARIZONA FINGERPRINT CLEARANCE CARD
