Title: Club Hockey Assistant Coach
Position Type: Part-Time
Department: Recreational Services
Augustana University invites applications for the part-time position of Club Hockey Assistant Coach. The Assistant Coach for the men’s and women’s club hockey teams will play the lead role in assisting the Head Coach in administrative, instructional, academic and recruiting services for both programs. This position is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the day-to-day operations as well as additional responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: identification and recruitment of club hockey players, practice planning, game preparation and on-ice and video analysis.
Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assist the Head Coach with the day-to-day operations of the Club Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey Program
• Coordinate club hockey member activities including but not limited to recruiting, conditioning, and academic services as needed.
• Support, abide and enforce all academic guidelines and policies of the university, recreational services department and Club Ice Hockey program to insure academic progress of the student club members.
• Assist the Head Coach in the direction of the administrative functions for the Men’s and Women’s Club Hockey program.
• Perform duties with professional conduct, being fiscally responsible and with a commitment to student club member well-being.
• Abide by all written policies, procedures, and guidelines of Augustana University and the Recreational Services department.
• Build quality relationships and work collaboratively and professionally with recreational services staff, University staff, students, and all constituencies and stakeholders.
• Adhere to all American Collegiate Hockey Association and Conference affiliated bylaws set forth by the governing bodies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Preference will be given to those with experience specific to coaching Ice Hockey.
• Understanding of American Collegiate Hockey Association rules and regulations.
• Must be able to work varying hours which may include days, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Previous coaching experience in a collegiate level program preferred as an Assistant or Head Coach.
• Experience in recruiting academically sound, qualified students.
• Former Ice Hockey student-athlete.
