ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Approaches job responsibilities with respect and professionalismReliable attendance and prompt arrival time;Prepare course objectives and content in line with curriculum guidelines and requirements of state and school;Uses technology teaching aids to present subject matter to class;Provides special education services for students with disabilitiesActs as special education case manager for students with disabilitiesUses ongoing authentic assessment information to inform instruction;Possess the ability to understand the individual needs of all children, and provide differentiated instruction to advance the developmental levels;Maintains order in the classroom and on playground;Maintains a safe environment for children at all times;Works with child and family when adjustment and developmental concerns arise;Discusses child’s developmental growth and achievements with parents;Keeps attendance as required by school;Coordinates class field trips;Works collaboratively with the total staff;Assumes responsibility for the care of materials, equipment, and facilities; Builds relationships with all children and families;Assumes responsibility for a neat, safe environment for children committed to their care;Practice and promote positive interaction with and among children;Encourages self-direction and self-regulation;Demonstrates knowledge of the curriculum being taught;Exhibits evidence of effective lesson plans;Utilizes a variety of appropriate materials and resources;Other duties assigned by principal. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of developmentally appropriate instruction for children ages three and four.Knowledge of developmentally appropriate responses to behavior for use with three and four year old children in a public school setting.Knowledge of current educational practices and developmental theory for preschool age children.Knowledge of proven practice in working in an educational setting with high needs children and their families.Knowledge of the needs of children who are at risk for school success.Knowledge of disabilities and special education practicesAbility to interpret professional reports and use information to develop IEPAbility to write correspondence, plans and other forms of communication.Ability to solve problems.Ability to work under pressure.Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of methods, including computer technology.Ability to gather and analyze data and make concise, accurate reports with recommendations.Ability to work collaboratively with teaching assistant and other school staff QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSValid certification to meet state requirements with specific endorsement in the area to which assigned. Must be licensed in Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education. Applicant who has had teaching experience must have an acceptable rating for such teaching.
