Position Summary:
The Patient Service Representative (PSR) is generally responsible for three pre-analytical functions: patient registration and order entry, phlebotomy, and specimen processing. The percentage of time spent in each of these functions will vary with location. The PSR may also be responsible for specimen pick-up in offices, report sorting and delivery, supply delivery, and other tasks related to the operation of the specific location. This is a high-visibility position with primary outpatient and/or inpatient contact. Work situations require professionalism in demeanor, communication and dress, an ability to establish trust and confidence with patients and/or patient families, and a service approach to the job. Internal contacts include other laboratorians and other facility co-workers; external contacts include patients, families, office staff and physicians.
Minimum Requirements:
One year phlebotomy experience preferred
Previous experience dealing with the public preferred
Education/Licenses/Certifications:
High school graduate or equivalent preferred
Current Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist Certification or Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist eligible (must complete the training and submit application within 90 days of Hire)
Completion of phlebotomy course or training preferred
Additional Information:
Sign on Bonus eligible for external candidates with a position of 0.75 FTE and higher with a 2 year commitment. Schedules Available: Full Time Evenings( 1.0 FTE): Monday-Friday 1pm-930pm with alternating weekends Part Time Nights ( 0.6FTE ): Mondays and Fridays 10pm-630am or 9pm-530am with alternating weekends
