ATTIC CORRECTIONAL SERVICES INC is Hiring a Substance Abuse Counselor-Foster Near Madison, WI

ATTIC Correctional Services is currently recruiting for a dual licensed AODA/mental health counselor. This position is responsible for substance abuse counseling of adult correctional clients referred to the program. Programming must be delivered in a secular manner free of religious components, following the agency prescribed curriculum. The person in this position is responsible for maintaining credentials required for the position. Collaboration with other staff, supervisors, and agents is vital and communication must be maintained. The person in this position must demonstrate professional conduct and respect for each client, maintaining confidentiality and high ethical standards.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop treatment plans based on each client's individual needs.
  • Complete and maintain accurate records of progress, services provided, treatment plan, and other required information.
  • Counsel clients in group sessions, using the approved curriculum provided.
  • Conduct orientation intake sessions of individuals referred to the program.
  • Evaluate client participation by monitoring behavior, attitude, and progress.


Education & Work Experience

  • Associate's degree in human services, criminal justice, or related field preferred.
  • Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC-IT, SAC or CSAC) credentials through the state of WI.
  • 2 years experience in counseling and facilitating cognitive based programming, preferably in a clinical setting.
  • Experience working with co-occurring correctional/AODA clients.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability working with individuals from diverse backgrounds; culturally competent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, email, and internet.
  • Ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality of all agency information.
  • Ability to interact with staff, clients, and agents in an effective manner while maintaining professional boundaries.
