ATSU is Hiring a MOSDOH -Part-time Clinical Faculty Near St Louis, MO

A.T. Still University's Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH) seeks an exempt part-time Clinical Faculty at the St. Louis Dental Center. The faculty member will be in charge of running simulation exercises and practical exams that ensure D3 and D4 students’ competency and preparedness for various operative and fixed prosthodontic procedures in the Saint Louis Dental Center. Including, but not limited to, operative class I-V operative preparations and restorations (both composite and amalgam) and single unit crowns, 3-unit bridges and the national licensure exam, etc. Faculty will be provided clinical supervision.

Major Job Duties

  • Work with the Assistant Dean, the Preclinical Education and Simulation Clinic.
  • Supervise operative and fixed prosthodontics simulation exercises and practical exams.
  • Provide feedback on student performance during their presence in the Simulation Clinic.
  • Train and calibrate faculty to utilize the MOSDOH grading rubrics used in the D1 and D2 years.
  • Act as a liaison with the Skills Acquisition Course Director by maintaining an open channel of communication between Kirksville and Saint Louis.
  • Monitor the inventory for the Simulation Clinic exercises and prepare supplies for the Skills Acquisition course.
  • Work with the Director of Clinical Faculty.
  • Supervise D3 and D4 students in clinical sessions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Educational Responsibilities.
  • Facilitate student learning activities in all simulation areas.
  • Utilize Canvas to record grades and educational materials.
  • Participate in development and the reevaluation of learning activities.
  • Prepare examination questions, assessments, quizzes, and tagging of questions.
  • Provide course learning objectives.
  • Issue professionalism warnings and/or slips when needed.
  • Proctor OSCE/OSPE and practical exams.
  • Other Responsibilities.
  • Complete the Required Employee Education (REE) mandated by the University.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Faculty.
  • Attend and participate in the biannual Faulty Advance when possible.
  • Attend and participate in calibration meetings with the preclinical faculty.
  • Attend and participate in calibration meetings with the clinical faculty.

Education/Training

  • BDS, DDS or DMD.
  • 1-2yrs minimum experience in a university or health care professional institute and/or dental practice.
  • Prior experience in project management.

  • Needs critical thinking/ analytic skills.

Equipment

  • All general office equipment.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other basic software.

  • Team player, with high-level communication skills, willing to work independently and closely with others.
  • Be of even temperament; and especially be willing to treat students, staff, and faculty in a collegial manner. 
  • Must be able to juggle several projects while meeting deadlines with strong prioritization abilities. 
  • Must represent ATSU in a highly professional manner, both internally and externally.
