Job Title: Foreman/Lead Mechanic

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Position Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Operations Manager

OVERVIEW/PURPOSE:

ATS Trans LLC (ATS) is the foremost transportation service in the Puget Sound, WA area, serving those with special needs, as well as customers seeking point-to-point driver services. 

The Service Writer/Lead Mechanic is responsible for scheduling all services to be performed by maintenance staff to ensure repairs are properly identified, scheduled and parts are ordered so vehicles can be serviced at the highest most professional level. The service writer will be responsible for hiring, training, and supervising all maintenance staff and projects. This position oversees vehicle and facility maintenance and ensures we comply with all FMCVS, WSDOT and Industry standards.

Essential Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

· Schedule preventive maintenance with Dispatch to ensure vehicles are available as needed for service.

· Oversee the preventive maintenance on all vehicles according to schedules, keeping accurate service and repair reports. 

· Maintains the inventory of parts so that we have cost effective operation. 

· Trains and mentor’s maintenance mechanic staff. 

· Tracks employee times for payroll and minimizes overtime.

· Ensure safety procedures are always adhered to.

· Maintains the shop at standards identified by DOL and Dept of Health.

· Diagnoses vehicle symptoms and determines the correct action(s) to take.

· Research and order appropriate parts for the vehicles as needed.

· Oversees all work to make sure all workorders are completed in a professional manner, this includes basic preventive maintenance services up to and including engine, and transmission replacement and major overhauls are serviced in a timely, professional manner. And other major repairs on vehicles as needed.

· Coordinates with dispatch for vehicles to be scheduled when needing maintenance.

· Maintain accurate records of each repair or maintenance performed.

· Provides reports for WSDOT, WUTC and FMCSA standards.

· Schedule assignments to additional maintenance staff.

· Works on vehicles as needed when volume necessitates and/ or maintenance mechanics are absent.

· Facilitates transition to computer maintenance program is implemented and maintained.

Required Education & Experience:

· High school diploma or GED.

· Must have at least 4 years’ experience in fleet maintenance.

· Prior supervisory experience.

· Must own tools.

· Experience using fleet maintenance software either as a service writer or as a mechanic/ foreman.

· Needs to have CDL in the event buses need to be relocated between sites.

· Valid Washington State Driver’s License

· Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

· Must be able to pass a drug test.
