COMPANY

Radiation Test Solutions, Inc. and ATS company, is the world leader in radiation effects testing and analysis of semiconductor devices and materials for space, airborne and ground applications, in both natural and man-made environments.
ROLE

As a member of our Radiation Effects team, the Sr. Radiation Effects Engineer will be responsible for the conception, definition, execution, and reporting of radiation effects testing. Radiation effects environments include total ionizing dose, prompt dose, neutron, proton, electron, and heavy ion.
Responsibilities:

As a key member of our Radiation Effects team, the Senior Radiation Effects Engineer will:
  • Lead the conception, execution, and reporting of radiation effects tests, covering total ionizing dose, prompt dose, neutron, proton, electron, and heavy ion environments.
  • Provide radiation test and analysis results to cross-discipline design and system engineers.
  • Develop and debug complex test designs.
  • Prepare and execute test plans and analyses for single event effect, total ionizing dose, and displacement damage dose environments.
  • Perform testing to characterize parts and assemblies for total ionizing dose and single event effect sensitivities.
  • Make recommendations and implement improvements for radiation testing and data collection.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis of component and board failures.
  • Understand and apply relevant testing standards (e.g., MIL-STD-750, MIL-STD-883, F1192, JESD57A).
  • Travel regularly and work a non-standard schedule for radiation testing.
  • Customer interaction, supporting design teams and implementing mitigation strategies.
Abilities:

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:
  • Support the design of test equipment and boards from conception, analysis, and manufacturing through operational tests.
  • Develop detailed test verification procedures.
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair existing test systems.
  • Work effectively in a laboratory environment, following standard operating procedures.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C#, C/C , and/or Python.
  • Ability to identify failures in radiation testing and knowledge on how to mitigate common failure mechanisms induced by ionizing radiation.
  • Ability to analyze and present test data.
Requirements:
  • A Master's degree or Ph.D. (or equivalent experience) in electrical engineering and/or physics.
  • 7 years' experience in radiation effects.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate with other engineers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with systems requiring tolerance to radiation effects.
  • Familiarity with fundamental semiconductor physics and understanding of electronic circuits.
  • Experience with electronics testing and instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, function generators, electronic load banks, power supplies, and data acquisition.
Preferred
  • Knowledge of radiation tools such as SRIM, TRIM, MCNP, GEANT4, SPENVIS, IRENE, CREME96, and SIRE.
Compensation

The base pay range for this position is Min $140,000 - Max $200,000

The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting's primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
