Planned Parenthood Keystone is Hiring a Senior Accountant Near Warminster, PA

Planned Parenthood Keystone (PPKey) serves 37 counties in Pennsylvania, home to over half of Pennsylvania residents. We have administrative offices in the Lehigh Valley, Harrisburg, Warminster, and York. We operate 9 medical centers that serve over 22,000 patients annually and offer comprehensive sexuality education that reaches thousands of young adults.

Planned Parenthood Keystone is looking for a full-time, exempt Senior Accountant.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for monitoring the financial resources of the agency, managing the fiscal reporting functions, and monitoring and completing various aspects of the month-end close. Along with the Controller, this position is responsible for the utilization of the general ledger software. The position also assists the Controller with specific financial functions in the medical insurance billing software program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors compliance with finance department procedures including cash, signature requirements, deposit verifications, petty cash procedures.
  • Reconciles the organization’s bank accounts.
  • Prepares monthly journal entries and monthly and quarterly account analyses.
  • Serves as backup to the Staff Accountant for deposit and Accounts Receivable responsibilities
  • Prepares monthly invoices for contracts with external agencies.
  • Records Monthly Medical revenue recognition using Billing Partner Report
  • Liaison to Development department. Managing monthly reconciliation of donation revenue received
  • Oversees Practice Management System (NextGen) daily reconciliation problems and physical monthly close in conjunction with Patient Services Administration.
  • Coordinates information and material preparation for external auditors and prepares analyses and reports.
  • 1Assists the Controller in insuring that the data in the financial and accounting systems is timely and accurate.
  • May be directed to manage various projects and participate on interdisciplinary teams as well as perform other duties as assigned.
  • Independently solves moderately complex problems and makes decisions based on sound accounting and financial principles. Work requires exercising considerable initiative, and independent analytical and evaluative judgment. Assesses payroll and finance policies and procedures for compliance and effectiveness and monitors the effect of payroll and finance decisions on the fiscal health of the organization.
  • Responsible for monitoring cash resources including the use of a line of credit. Also responsible for routine finance department expenditures.
  • Works with staff and management throughout the Organization. Performance affects how well the department heads are able to manage and control budgets. Works with a variety of external contacts including banks, vendors, grantors and auditors on behalf of the organization. Ability to work independently and effectively with outside contacts that impact the fiscal health of PPKey. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5 years’ experience in accounting and financial management required. Experience in non-profit and/or healthcare accounting preferred.
  • Computer literacy, including competency in affiliate email, Internet, and patient management systems software, if applicable to job
  • Excellent knowledge of accounts payable and purchasing practices
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting practices and principles
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that enable work in a collaborative and multifaceted team environment
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills, including competency in Microsoft Office software, affiliate email, Internet, patient management systems and financial accounting software systems
  • Ability to analyze and interpret concrete and abstract data, business and professional journals, technical procedures, financial reports, and applicable government laws and regulations
  • Ability to write clear, persuasive, and informative reports, correspondence, and procedural instructions

Salary and Benefits:

  • Compensation for this position starts at $75,000 annually and goes up from there based on experience
