Your future team

Confluence is becoming a connected knowledge and collaboration space for teams; a place to create, collaborate, structure and organize work or content from any tool. To do this, we must evolve beyond the page to enable new kinds of collaborative work, like through whiteboards, databases, and Smart Link embeds that bring your data from any product to life in Confluence. With more of a team’s work and content housed in Confluence, we can leverage workflow automations, AI, and other Atlassian services to help every team work more effectively.

Behind this effort is the Content Types team — a collection of engineers, marketers, product managers, and more. As the Design Manager, you will lead a team of designers across the core Content Types work and partner with cross-functional craft partners to lead product strategy, vision, and execution of our ever-evolving roadmap. You’ll be responsible for business outcomes, design direction, and high-quality design execution for the team.

As a Design Manager, you'll:

• Lead complex and high-impact product design projects that help raise the quality bar for our users

• Partner with a range of cross-functional teams (including Engineering, Product Management, Research, Design, Marketing, and Data Science) across our Atlassian product portfolio

• Collaborate closely with our platform teams to deliver innovative, cohesive end-to-end experiences

• Manage a team of product and content designers, helping them to do the best work of their lives

• Champion the design craft and help shape our processes, practices, and culture

• Be a part of the growing and thriving Atlassian Design team

• Co-own the design quality and outcomes for Confluence Content Types Design

The ideal candidate will bring:

• 8 years of product design-related experience, ideally including 2 years of management experience

• A demonstrated passion for high-quality design and customer experiences

• Craft expertise in interaction design, prototyping, and visual design

• Hands-on experience improving the work of those around you, as either a manager or design mentor

• The ability to drive a user-centered design process that consistently leads to quality outcomes

• Confidence in presenting work and getting others on board with a chosen design direction

• A proven track record of effective collaboration with Product Management, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams

• Strong communication, systems thinking, and cross-functional collaboration skills that you demonstrate in the way you work across multiple teams, solicit and synthesize feedback, and facilitate design discussions

Compensation

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $188,800 - $251,700

Zone B: $169,900 - $226,500

Zone C: $156,700 - $208,900

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
