Atlas Technical Consultants is Hiring a Construction Inspector Near Austin, TX

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Perform work related to transportation engineering activities including but not limited to: Construction Inspection, Materials Testing, Construction Surveying, & Construction Records Keeping. Work will require knowledge of construction and engineering principles as it relates to the construction and maintenance of highways, streets, and bridges. Workers at this level are expected to work independently on assignments to meet project objectives, however all unusual issue are to be referred to the supervisor.

  • Serve as project inspector for construction activities for large and/or small complex construction
  • Ensure contractors build roadways, bridges, and related highway structures in accordance with the plans and specifications
  • Attend pre-construction and progress
  • Consult with Project Manager and Project Engineer on contract progress, monthly estimates, and unusual issues with the interpretation of the plans and specifications
  • Inspect ongoing construction
  • Calculate payments due to the contractor for work completed
  • Complete pay reports for the actual work
  • Conduct testing to ensure that material test work performed, and materials meet the required
  • Inspect barricades and traffic control devices at construction project sites for compliance with specifications for devices, safety laws, rules, regulations and the
  • Inspect project SW3P for compliance with the project Epic.
  • Maintain daily diary of work activity and progress
  • Maintain construction project records and process related
  • Monitor lane closures at construction sites and document changes in traffic control

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school grad or equivalent and 5 YEARS in Construction inspection Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent
  • No Supervisory Experience Required
  • Related College education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on year per year basis.

Technical Requirements:

  • Applicable TxDOT inspection methods, procedures, and techniques
  • Reading and interpreting applicable plans, schematics, blueprints, and maps
  • Performing calculations to include material and labor estimates, expenses, technical survey data and engineering calculations
  • Use of personal computer
  • Communicate effectively
  • Move up to 50 pounds

Other miscelleneous qualities:

  • Ability to travel 15% of the time
  • Requires working overnight and in inclement weather
  • Possess ACI Field, TxAPA 1B, SB102 certifications or must obtain within 6 months of hire
