Atlas Surveying is Hiring an Instrument Operator (Entry-level) Near Greer, SC

Atlas Surveying, Inc. is an industry-leading professional land surveying firm with offices in the Savannah/Hilton Head, Charleston, Charlotte, and Greenville/Spartanburg areas. We use conventional tools, robots, and drones to conduct surveys, perform certifications, and provide GPS and aerial mapping. We serve a client base of real estate developers, general contractors, as well as architectural and engineering firms.

Atlas Surveying, Inc. is accepting resumes for the position of Instrument Operator. This is an entry-level surveying position where the employee will, under the supervision of an experienced Survey Crew Chief, learn a variety of different surveys, such as boundary surveys, topographic surveys, as-builts, construction staking, and wetland and OCRM delineations. Instrument Operators have an opportunity to progress within the company in the field or office. Dependability, a desire, and critical thinking skills are imperative to this position.

Disclaimer: Working conditions can be outdoor or indoor and land surveying is subject to extreme weather conditions. Applicants must have the ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift 75lbs. Mental and physical labors are to be expected.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in surveying, construction, or utility locating is preferred, but not required.
  • The ability to stand and walk for long periods of time is essential.
  • Professional, team-oriented attitude with a desire to build a career.
  • Honest, dependable, thorough, safety-conscious, and a strong work ethic
  • Self-driven with little to no supervision
  • Must have a current, valid driver’s license with MVR that meets Company requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Training under a Crew Chief to learn a variety of surveys and proper operation of survey equipment.
  • Taking notes in a field book while on the job site
  • Managing truck inventory and ensuring that equipment and supplies are stocked.
  • Completing projects in a timely manner
  • Being flexible and adaptive to change
  • Performing other duties as assigned
