Atlas Surveying is Hiring an Instrument Operator (Entry-level) Near Greer, SC

Atlas Surveying, Inc. is an industry-leading professional land surveying firm with offices in Savannah/Hilton Head, Charleston, Charlotte and Greenville/Spartanburg. We use conventional tools, robots, and drones to conduct surveys and perform certifications, and to provide real-time GPS and aerial mapping. We serve real estate developers, and construction, architectural and engineering firms in the public and private sectors. 

Atlas Surveying, Inc. is accepting resumes for the position of Surveyor in Training (Instrument Operator). Responsibilities will include construction staking; the completion of As-built, Boundary, Title, and Topographic Surveys; as well as the completion of Wetland & OCRM Delineations. Will be under the direction and supervision of an experienced Survey Party Chief. This position will train as a land surveyor with opportunity to progress in the company in the field or in the office. Dependability, desire to learn, and critical thinking skills along with communicating with our offices and clients is also integral to the position.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in construction, surveying, or utility locating is strongly preferred, but not required.
  • The ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, to bend and stoop, and to lift heavy items is essential; it is also sometimes necessary to enter manholes. 
  • Professional and Team-Oriented attitude with desire to build a career.
  • Honest, Dependable, Thorough, Safety Conscious, and a Strong Work Ethic.
  • Must be self-driven with little or no supervision.
  • Must have current and valid driver’s license with MVR that meets Company requirements.
  • Working conditions could be indoor or outdoor and the job is subject to extreme weather conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Training under a Crew Chief to learn a variety of surveys.
  • Taking strong notes while on the job site.
  • Managing truck inventory and insuring that supplies are stocked.

  • Self-motivated and organized with good decision making skills.
  • Completion of timely & accurate time and expense activity
