Atlas Building Company of Florida, LLC. is Hiring a Construction Controller Near Sarasota, FL

BASIC JOB FUNCTION:

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in planning, developing, and organizing the financial performance of a privately held construction company. The Controller will report directly to the EVP of Operations of the company, and he/she is responsible for the administrative and accounting functions within the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, and entering transactions into the accounting software.
  • Manage all aspects of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including releases of lien and insurance compliance.
  • Responsible for cash management and reporting cash position to upper management.
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
  • Strong working knowledge of Quick Books, Sage and Procore is very important.
  • Manage all aspects of Payroll including employment taxes and employee benefits.
  • Organize office operations and procedures including the management of contract and price negotiations with office vendors and service providers.
  • Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and work in progress report monthly.
  • Coordinate annual review and tax returns.
  • Work with project management staff ensuring proper compliance with accounting procedures including reviewing and analyzing job cost estimates, reconciliation between Procore and QuickBooks, and reports monthly.
  • Responsible for ensuring that financial statements are issued on time, in accordance with US generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP).
  • Development and leadership of the accounting team, including hiring and training of team members.

Supervises: Accounting and Finance Team

Works With: (internally) President, VP of Operations, CFO, and Project Managers

Works With: (externally) Clients, Vendors, Banks, and accounting firms

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical requirements of the Controller are light or sedentary work. However, exertions of up to 50 lbs. of force to lift, carry, and push or otherwise move objects may occasionally be required. The position involves sitting, standing, or walking most of the time, but only to the extent required for normal locomotion. Visual acuity requirements are those of reading and reviewing or analyzing information.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:

  • Accuracy & timeliness are expected in the performance of all job responsibilities.
  • Maintain all company standards of performance while assisting personnel, clients, and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

Required: (in office position)

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance., or business administration.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in construction accounting and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of Construction Accounting Software is a must, preferably QuickBooks and/or Sage products.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • CCIFP certification is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
