Full-Time Patient Account Representative

Objective:

Responsible for providing excellent Customer Service in the Business Office as well as all duties listed below under “sample duties”.

Sample Duties:

• Completes electronic claims submission daily for both primary and secondary claims. Utilizes automated editing functions for review of incorrect ICD-10 codes, CPT codes and HCPCS codes.
• Utilizes claim editing software and application processes for identifying and correcting claims submission errors.
• Utilizes electronic interface for importing of physician charges.
• Posts line-item payments and adjustments to patient accounts. Utilizes electronic remittance payment process as available by insurer.
• Performs claims follow-up with insurance carriers on unpaid / denied claims. Completes and files reconsideration requests and / or appeals to carriers with additional documentation or corrections.
• Maintains continual knowledge of payor policies to assure optimal reimbursement for all professional services and infusion services.
• Investigates and analyzes payor remittance advices regarding denials and reimbursement discrepancies.
• Properly scans and indexes required documents relating to patient accounts.
• Tactfully collects balances on accounts and post monies. Work with patients to develop payment plans.
• Research and resolve patient billing inquiries or issues.
• Schedule patient appointments as needed.
• Serve as a back-up for Patient Intake Coordinator as well as Scheduling / Referral Coordinator when needed.

Coding experience preferred

Medical Office experience preferred

Pay: $16.00 - $24.75 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
