Atlantic Traffic Design Engineering Career Center is Hiring a Traffic Engineer Near Melville, NY

Traffic Engineer (Long Island)

Atlantic TPD, LLC (ATDE) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. (TPD).

Atlantic TPD, LLC (ATDE) staff provides expertise on access management, traffic circulation, parking design, ADA-compliance and transportation related design concepts. Safe and efficient accommodation of the traveling public is instrumental to the success of any development project. ATDE is currently hiring a Traffic Design Engineer for our Melville, NY office.

Our ideal candidate has minimum of 3 years of experience, a strong work ethic, a desire to learn, the willingness to work cohesively within a team, and the ability to work on multiple projects. Additionally, we offer a creative, flexible, supportive and fun environment!

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams on tasks such as work zone traffic, intersection design, traffic signal design, roadway signing and pavement marking plans, DOT access permitting, control plans and traffic signal operations analysis.
  • May assist the team with traffic studies, corridor planning, feasibility studies, and safety audits.
  • Obtaining, analyzing, and interpreting demographic and other regional transportation planning data.
  • Assisting in the preparation or modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, impact studies, permits, and designs for projects.
  • Reviewing construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.
  • Serving as on-site project representative.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (required)
  • EIT, FE, or PE (not requited, but preferred)
  • Knowledge of CADD Software (MicroStation or AutoCAD or OpenRoad)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work on multiple projects and ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Driver’s License
