The Atlantic Council’s Millennium Leadership Program (MLP) cultivates a new generation of connected and empowered global leaders to tackle unprecedented global challenges. Our team develops and implements leadership programs with unique international convenings spanning from Guatemala to Taiwan and beyond. We work with global rising stars from private, public, and government sectors through our three programmatic pillars: leadership, community, and impact.
Currently, the MLP runs the Millennium Fellowship Program, launching the new Executive Leadership Intensive, co-leads Young Global Professional Program in partnership with the HR team, and is looking to launch several short-term leadership programs in 2024/25.
As our team’s full-time intern, you will provide important logistical, writing, and operational support to the Program. Our team is versatile, flexible, and small, but has a significant global impact. Our work is all-hands-on-deck, and we encourage interns to actively engage with all elements of our work. This is a great “generalist” position for someone with extraordinary orientation to details, ability to handle ambiguity in an ultra-fast-paced environment, and a passion for writing anything from a social media post to a speech and a proposal. This work will expose the candidate to the logistical elements of virtual event-planning and planning complex large-scale in-person convenings, think tank operations, proposal writing, managing communications and social media plan, and monitoring and evaluation work. You will also experience a great deal of learning through our leadership trainings with multiple executive-level trainers alongside our Fellows. And you are also encouraged to participate in and attend events hosted by other programs at the Atlantic Council.
The successful candidate will have a passion for work in a cross-cultural setting and an entrepreneurial ethos, while also being an effective communicator. With a work culture of constant learning, we value strong writing skills and attention to detail, and the ability to produce rigorous work under deadlines. Demonstrated interest in international affairs through class work or experience is preferred.
This internship is based in our Washington, DC headquarters. Candidates must be available to work in-person throughout the duration of the program. Interns will be paid at a rate of $17.50 per hour.
Applications close Friday, June 7, 2024, at 11:59 pm ET (4:59 am GMT) and require a resume and cover letter.
