SUMMARY:

Responsible for day-to-day operation of Policy Services by timely and accurately processing policies, endorsements and other routine supporting tasks. This position will help to ensure processes and procedures are completed properly. Interact in a positive and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Timely and accurate processing of transactions (endorsements, new business, renewals, cancellation and reinstatements) in the company processing system (WPC).
  • Ability to resolve processing problems by computing the correct additional or return premiums as required and completing time-sensitive matters via email or phone as needed.
  • Communicate and proactively schedule any necessary follow up/issues with territorial Associate Underwriters/Underwriters.
  • Exhibit professional verbal and written correspondence with internal and key external customers as necessary.
  • Create and adhere to a timely follow-up diary system for outstanding policy service-related items.
  • Other functions may be assigned as business needs evolve.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or general education degree (GED). A minimum 1-year insurance experience and/or insurance educational classes, or related experience in policy processing or agency customer service is preferred. The ideal candidate would have commercial policy knowledge and be familiar with endorsements, including pro-rata and short-rate computations.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as underwriting manuals, emails, faxes and procedural manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence in the English language using correct grammar and spelling. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Skill and ability to use and operate an adding machine, computer, fax machine, phone system and copier. Ability to type 40 WPM. Operational knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word and Excel. Excellent organization and communication skills, oral and written, are also a must.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in written or diagram form. Reasoning; dealing with problems involving a few variables in standard situations. Candidate must possess and be able to apply logical thinking skills and have the ability to think creatively.
