We are looking for an exceptional Volunteer Coordinator to join our exceptional team. The Volunteer Coordinator is a member of the interdisciplinary team who is responsible for representing the volunteers and advocating for volunteer services, identifying needs for volunteers, recruiting volunteers, and assigning volunteers with patients/families.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Must have reliable transportation, current driver license, and automobile liability insurance.
  • Must be able to understand, read, write, and speak English.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills required.
  • Knowledge of hospice concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office products and database software systems.
  • Experience with EMR systems is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises all volunteer activity in local area of service.
  • Maintains the 5% criteria.
  • Assesses patient/family request for volunteer placement and assigns volunteer.
  • Assists with determining recruitment needs related to service area and patient population.
  • Recruits, trains and retains volunteers for assigned area of service.
  • Maintains frequent communication with the program volunteers.
  • Schedules and facilitates volunteer training sessions and in-services.
  • Networks with community resources and represents the volunteer program within the community.
  • Represents the volunteer program in team meetings while encouraging use of volunteers.
  • Serves as a liaison to facilitate communication between the volunteers and staff.
  • Oversees volunteer visit documentation as received and files appropriately in patient file.
  • Maintains volunteer recruitment and retention records.
  • Maintains personnel file on all volunteers and performs annual evaluations and file updates.
  • Records and maintains monthly statistics of volunteer visit and time documentation.
  • Provides individual volunteer support as needed.
  • Participates in the coordination of the patient’s hospice care and in the hospice’s quality assessment and performance improvement program.
  • Fulfills other activities as assigned.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must comply and demonstrate acceptable professional standards and practices and promote company’s core values.
  • Must understand and accept hospice philosophy and be knowledgeable of pain and symptom control as related to terminally ill patients.
  • Must be able to work full-time position, Monday-Friday from 8:30am until 5pm.
  • Must be a team player and able to form and maintain relationships with office staff, patients, families and partnering facilities.
  • Completes required annual training.
